"THERACURMIN can safely increase plasma curcumin levels in a dose dependent manner at least up to 210 mg without saturating the absorption system. To the best of our knowledge, THERACURMIN is the first nanoparticle formulation of curcumin which demonstrates improved bioavailability in human subjects. We believe this compound could be a promising tool when testing the potential anti-cancer effects of curcumin in clinical trials".

I would like a study comparing the various supplemental forms of curcumin against simply eating turmeric with a meal with oil, like olive oil or coconut oil.

Natural Factors is using theracurmin in there curcumin product.

They have a higher dose per capsule than what is found in the Japanese product - 300 mg (90% curcuminoids) vs 30 mg per capsule.

Anyone tried it?

This is something I think needs more attention. Not the supplement but reducing the particle size of supplements for better Bio availability. When the particle size is smaller its able to pass through cells easier. I just wish there was more nano sized supplements

Out of curiosity I purchased Natural Factor's Theracurmin product to try.

Turns out it contains only 30 mg of curcumin per capsule.

(A capsule contains 300 mg Theracurmin, which is 10% curcumin).

On the packaging, there is a claim that 30 mg curcumin (as Theracurmin) has been shown to produce blood levels equal to "8000 mg of regular curcumin powder".

It is possibly giving me a slightly jet lagged sensation (only been taking it for two days, though... I suppose not long enough to form much of a judgement.)

I would also like to know if Curcumin is alot more effective than simply eating Tumeric

Do you think it would be wise to supplement with Curcumin even if you dont have cancer ??

and use Curcumin as a preventative ???

I went through a few bottles of Natural Factor's theracurmin product. It seemed OK. I'll try it again. Sorry I can't offer a more detailed report... I didn't notice anything startling when taking it. I don't have any particular illnesses that I'm taking curcumin for, so I can't really assess it by noticing that e.g., a pain or ache has gone away.

Apart from theracurmin, I've tried Longvida, BCM95 (LEF's Super BIo Curcumin), and Meriva. Of these, Meriva is the one I feel myself "missing" if I skip a dose, or run out. I get a bit of a decline in my feelings of wellbeing, and a little bit of a mood dip, when I stop it. Therefore, I continue to take it. I only take one Meriva cap/day, which is a small dose.

(I also take a LEF Super Bio Curcumin - only every second day at the moment - I'm trying to reduce the total amount of polyphenols I'm supplementing each day - I think I've been over-doing it, and want to give my liver a rest.)

I just noticed that Swanon vitamins has finally introduced a theracurmin product:

Promotional article:
https://www.swansonv...heracurmin.html

SWANSON: What makes Theracurmin® different and, in your opinion, superior to other forms?

DR. MURRAY: Theracurmin is an all-natural preparation that utilizes advanced techniques to reduce the particle size of curcumin, thereby dramatically increasing its solubility. At equal dosage levels, Theracurminproduces blood levels in human and animal studies that are up to 300 times greater than regular curcumin and significantly greater than any other commercial form.

SWANSON: Theracurmin is referred to as "particle surface controlled;" what does this mean and how is it achieved?

DR. MURRAY: The average particle size of curcumin in Theracurmin is 0.19 to 0.3 μm compared to an average particle size of 22.75 μm in curcumin powder. That represents a reduction of over 100 times. This reduced particle-sized curcumin is then mixed with a vegetable gum (gum ghatti) to produce what is known as a colloidal suspension that dramatically increases the solubility of curcumin in water. Greater solubility in water means easier absorption in the body. The result is an unparalleled increase in the absorption of curcumin compared to all other commercial forms tested, including other enhanced forms of curcumin.
