Hi everyone,

I hope this post is on-topic. It's more about gut health than brain health, but I want to soothe my stomach without aggravating my protracted benzodiazepine withdrawal.

This forum has several experts on benzo withdrawal, so I'm hoping some of you might chime in.

I have posted other threads about my experience. The short story is that I'm 17 months post-benzos and still pretty sensitive.

In the past month, I have developed gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which is also known as acid reflux.

Can I safely drink peppermint tea to counter symptoms (heartburn, metallic breath)? A few posts on other forums claim that peppermint is a weak GABA antagonist, but I haven't found a reliable citation.

How about ginger as a powder, tea, or juice? I'm having trouble finding out if ginger has any effect on GABA.

Thanks to anyone who can lend their knowledge to answer my question.

Wouldn't ordinary calcium carbonate antiacid tablets work? I don't think those have any real interactions.
