Hi I'm new here. I was put on Effexor 37.5mg a day and i took it for 4 months. When I came off it (on doctors advice) I developed withdrawals and the worst for me was burning pain in my legs and feet. I'm 9 weeks on and the burning has improved a bit. My doctor said it was effexor side effect and would clear up in a few weeks but it's still going on!
I still needed help with my mood so I was recommended to take ashwagandha 3 times a day and shatavan 3 times a day. I've been taking these a couple of days now and the burning pains were back in force last night which made it very hard to sleep.
Does anyone know if the herb can aggravate the nervous system and whatever effect the effexor had on the nervous system?
I'm disappointed as I had hoped for taking these after hearing such positive things.

As far as I know ashwagandha can somewhat influence the thyroid, which might cause some of your problems: https://www.ncbi.nlm...pubmed/16355578. I recommend an adequate diet first with supplemented iodine (150-225mg/day) if you barely eat salt, bread and diary (as you should) and not taking Ashwagandha every day. I personally only take it now and then when my anxiety comes up, but I also take it for other reasons.
