hello immortalists:
an integral part of health at any age is fitness. supplements have there place, but they cannot make your heart stronger, nor your body.
so, a little info about me: im more or less 24. im 6ft3, 258. im built like a samoan [but not nearly as fleshy thank god] so im not as impressive as you may think.
so, who am i to be suggesting or pointing the way for anything? well thats up to you. i dont beleive in lifting stupid weights and getting hurt. i dont beleive in doing stupid exercizes and getting hurt. i dont beleive in overdoing it. anyone of any age could do what i do, with a little modification. i beleive in overall fitness, not just cardio or lifting weights.
and i beleive in looking good. every person on here but the transhumanists whove chopped there balls beleives in that.
so, without further hesitation...
i hit the bike every other day. i only take additional time off because im out of the area and i cant get ahold of a bike, or if im sick. your chosen version of cardio can be replaced when i say bike. i say biking because thats what i do.
i practice using interval training. interval training goes like this: i get on the bike, and do 3 mins for a warm up. i then do 7-8 intervals. then i do a 3 min cooldown. so what are the intervals? well first off all, id say almost everyone here will get quite enough outof 4-5 of them. dont try to imitate me, unless youre sure you can.
in interval for a beginner is 20 seconds of biking [or running etc] as hard as you can, then 40 seconds of regular pace biking. repeat 4-5 times.
why i like it: because i dont have the time to spend an hour on a bike. and in truth, i dunno if i could keep doing it even if i had the time. biking for long ass periods in a room is BORING. interval training is short and intense, so it keeps your mind focused. its harder work, but man its so much easier to do and get yourself motivated for than spending an hour on the bike wathcing a spider scurry across a wall.
your adaption to the bike determines your rate of advancement. dont just jump up real quick, and ill tell you why: when you first start youll prolly not have your timing down or know how to focus your intensity etc. give 5 intervals at least a month, while constantly improving and getting more out of your time. then once youve maxed out your effort at 5, go up to 6. progress as slowly as you can wile still maintain effectiveness, because you dont want to do more work than you have to. leastwise, i dont.
i used to doit 6 days a week, but it never allowed me to heal and i wasnt getting quite the jump in power when i was lifting because of all the stress i was under. interval cardio training is some serious stuff, dont kid yourself. so i do it every other day now.
Lifting:
i lift twice a week, which means i work out every bodypart once every 7 days. the biggest thig i have to stress to you about lifting is that when you first start, use lighter weights. much like maximizing your effort on the bike, youll get your footing on your form and stuff.
heres what i do:
Day 1
rows
hanging leg raises
deadlifts
bench presses
Day 2
biceps curls
triceps extensions
calf raises
military press
shrugs
whe i started lifting, for about the first 2 months i just busted my ass, going all out, with 2 sets. my weights kept going up with those 2 sets. then after about 2 months, i went ahead and started doing 3. in one week on my deadlift, i went up 40 lbs for reps. i doubt ill ever see a jump like that again, but that jump is a testament that you dont need to break yourself down to make huge leaps in power.
you might ask me: but can i get big doing that? leaving the subjects of genetics and food alone, yea you cvan get noticably larger doing what im doing, and quick. you will never be vin diesel, because you prolly wont ever use steroids. but if you dont mind 'settling' for a body like bruce lee or easily bigger, very easily, then this is all you need.
it takes commitment though.
so while i could go on about diet and supplementation, i wont. ill leave that to specific questions, if there are any. it seems pointless to me to continue talking on about an aspect no one here might be interested in pursuing, like getting as big as a natural guy can.
ask away about this or anything related to fitness and ill help. either sex.
