First and most importantly please note the time of this Update program is 4pm CDT. This is 1 hour earlier than the normal Update time.

The Update is featuring Paul Wakfer once again mainly because of all the quality information and insight he has to offer. It is impossible to fit it all into one program. Plus there were technical problems during the previous episode which prevented a recording from being made. Mr. Wakfer is a firm believer "that all possible events should be
recorded, archived and available for retrieval in the future". Thank you Mr. Wakfer.

If you didn't have a chance to attend last week, here is your second chance. If you have some rather detailed or technical questions please state them here in this forum ahead of time. It will make it much easier for myself and Paul to discuss it during the interview and have references available if needed.

Check last week's forum as a primer for this week's Update. Paul was very gracious and answered questions within that forum.

As always, you can check Morelife.org and http://selfsip.org/ for more information.

Hi Justin and Paul
I'm glad that the chat with Paul can happen again

As I understand what you said last week, Paul, you don't try to prevent
specific diseases but first try to maximize your lifetime happiness and
recommend to focus on one's diet and one's physical practice without being extremist
You also warned against high dose supplements use for young people because we don't know yet the long term safety of high dose supplements use
You also told, if I understood right, that aging is slowly changing
parameters and we have to look at these parameters and try to prevent
them from changing ( in other words try to preserve body homeostasis)

1°)Along with diet, do you advice metformin use even for young people in order to have a synergistic effect with moderate caloric restriction and to preserve insulin sensitivity?

1°)I see in http://morelife.org/...is-regimen.html that you take 2.1 gm Potassium citrate (38% potassium) daily ; is it to keep the balance between acid and base in diet in order to keep bone health ?

1°)In order to prevent antiglycation and accumulation of garbage during life, cinnamon and low dose aspirin are probably safe even for long term use . Would you recommend Aminoguanidine even for long term use? Or sth else?

With my best regards for the coming chat.
François Rose

I won't be able to make chat till nearer towards the end.

Please ask him to go over his story of getting into Cryonics--how he viewed it at first, then how he did after researching it a bit.  Thanks ;o)

This topic could be valuable for those considering cryonics now, or in the future.

If Paul has time, I would like to hear his rationale and more about about this topic.

I agree that it is important for anyone considering cryonics, but it is not the kind of thing that can be adequately described within a "chat" format. The detail required is such that it needs to be written, thought about, analyzed and have written discussion. Most of eveything that I have to present to other people  and inform them about is of such detail that the precision of the written format is a necessity. This is why I do not chat with people until they are already very familiar with the subject of the discussion. Only then is a chat of value to quickly tie up some loose ends of understanding.

With the exception of these few answers here and sometimes on sci.life-extension, I also refuse to discuss anything with people who will not identify themselves. Therefore, you will need to ask me this and any other questions by either joining MoreLife Yahoo and identifying yourself so that you are elligible to post there, or wait until I make another short span of exception (defiinitely if I am interviewed again on Imminst or elsewhere).

Many thanks to Paul for sharing his knowledge once again during the Sunday Evening Update.

A recording is available.

>>> A recording is available.

Well, I've tried to listen to it several times today, and it never loads.  That Ustream.tv site just totally sucks.  There doesn't appear to be a play button, so I wait and wait for it to load.  I give up.

I will check it out, see what the problem is, and come up with a solution.

I also cannot access the talk, I can't even find the recorded item. Can you please post a direct link to Paul's recording. Also, I have to say the Ustream.tv is very poorly designed and almost unusable. What about youtube?

The show was there a couple days ago and now it has disappeared. I have contacted Ustream support. An Imminst member recorded the show as a back-up. I will see if we can get that recording distributed for everyone.

About Ustream. Most people have little trouble viewing the channel. Some have been blocked because of firewall issues. I agree that it is not perfect (I am even having trouble with it today), but it is free and it allows live interaction. I looked into a few other options, and asked members for ideas, but nothing was free, allowed live streaming, or allowed text chat interaction.

Has youtube began offering free streaming? I know from media reports it is in the works.

After the broadcast, I viewed the recording myself just to make sure it was available for everyone. Not sure why the board meeting is there and not Paul's interview. No official word from Ustream as of yet.

Francois did get an audio recording, so all is not lost, however, I will be quite saddened if I am not able to retrieve the video. I am sure Paul and Kitty will be quite upset as well.
