I'm curious about that as well. I have experienced a nice mood-lift with Mucuna, but that's about it.

At the moment, I'm taking 1-2 caps of NOW Dopa Mucuna 5 days a week. I feel worse/a bit more moody on the days I don't take it, though :( And that's why I've ordered some Cordyceps, which will supposedly help by upregulating my dopamine receptors.

@Galaxyshock, thanks for recommending Cordyceps to me!

I've been on it (Jarrow's) for a week now and think it's great! It's very subtle, but I can feel it improves my mood, breathing, alertness and general well-being. Will be ordering more, I think!

Good to hear it works for you. I've had good experiences with Doctor's Best ultra cordyceps, it's 750mg per capsule and standardized content, also a bit cheaper than Jarrow's at least on iHerb. You could try it and compare the two products. At lower doses it's indeed subtle, but 4 caps of ultra cordyceps with big cup of coffee hits me pretty strongly, I'm taking no prisoners!

Cordyceps is excellent for asthma and definitely has a euphoric effect - if you combine cordyceps and deer antler velvet, this well - you will feel like super man on.

Update:

I've recently noticed that 2-3 tabs of Jarrow's Cordyceps goes really well with a single cap of NOW Dopa Mucuna. When I take 2 caps of Mucuna (which is the recommended dose stated on the package) I feel it more, but not necessarily in a good way.

So here's my morning stack:

- 1 cap of Mucuna Pruriens (Now Dopa Mucuna)

- 2-3 tabs of Cordyceps (Jarrow Cordyceps)

- a strong cup of coffee

Effects:

- Better mood

- Fewer/no negative thought loops

- Increase in energy (especially mental energy)

- Slight increase in libido

Will continue like this for another week to confirm the results.

Now put a coat on and go walking with it, winter walks on cordyceps are amazing! ;)

Just an FYI.

Cordyceps (Jarrow Cordyceps)

This product says "It is a full spectrum product containing materials from all the growth stages – mycelium, fruitbodies and spores – and therefore the full range of physiologically active compounds."

It is impossible to have Cordyceps sinensis fruit bodies. They can't be cultivated and the wild ones are over $20,000/kg so they aren't in any supplements. Without fruit bodies, you have no spores.

This product is most likely mycelium grown on grain in which case it contains a high amount of grain diluting the amount of active compounds that can be present.

You'd be better off with that Doctors Best as it "looks" to be Cs-4. You'd have to ask what country it comes from to verify.

Also note the study quoted by Galaxyshock is based off "cultured fruiting bodies of Cordyceps militaris extract (CME)" and not Cordyceps sinensis. Militaris is a different species in which it can be cultivated to product a fruiting body and therefore you're able to produce an extract made from the fruiting body.
