I saw some "Resveratrol" wine at Costco a few weekends ago in the vitamin isle next to the noni juice that says it has no alcohol and gives you as much Resveratrol in 20ml as drinking an impractical number of glasses of red wine would. I bought a few bottles and it tastes pretty good and gives me a bit of the subtle mood improvement I am used to experiencing from RevGenetics Resveratrol. It's pretty easy to take with dinner and tastes slightly bitter but pleasant. I think the manufacturer is NeoCell. Have any of you guys heard about this brand? Do you have any comments about its effectiveness?

Here's a press release I found announcing the product:

6000 ORAC Units Per serving? Can someone explain to me what that is and what ORAC means?

The ORAC value of quality trans-resveratrol alone is estimated at 3000 per 100mg.

Nope, just putting it out there for comparison.

I can't tell how much resveratrol they have in the bottle, maybe someone has a better link to check?

Don't see many specifics at the Neocell website.

Third party interpretation:

"The big win is that in two tablespoons of Reversitall you can the same amount of Resveratrol as in an entire bottle of red wine, that is about 2,000 micrograms (mcg). For those not in the know, Resveratrol is identified as the primary anti-oxidant and anti-cancer ingredient in red wine, thought to be responsible for the so-called “French Paradox:”"

Ok so 2 US tablespoons = 29.5735296 ml

2,000 mcg = 2mg

.0676 mg resveratrol per ml 4437 ml to get the same amount of resveratrol as 1 Revgenetics 300mg Resveratrol pill.

25 US fluid ounces in bottle = 739.338239 ml

Approx 6 Bottles to equal 1 Revgenetics pill. Approx $20/bottle = $120/pill - Not particularly cost effective.

Though for some reason it seems to have a mild mood brightening effect in small dosages.... It's not just extracted resveratrol dumped into grape juice.. It's some proprietary grape polyphenol extract so maybe there's something else going on here with absorption?

More Hype?

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wouldn't you like to unlock the natural secret to aging gracefully? Scientists now have evidence that the answer could be Reversitall® with Resveratrol.

The ingredient Reversitall® is a unique blend of red wine and the skin, stems and vines of Muscadine grapes and has proven to contain the most potent concentration of Resveratrol from red wine and grapes on the market. The patent pending extracting process of Reversitall® was developed by a California-based nutritional supplement company, Collagen Nutraceuticals Inc. This highly effective extraction process prevents the ingredients from any exposure to heat and UV light which ensures that the resveratrol molecule stays intact.

A new study by BIOMOL International shows that Reversitall® with Resveratrol unlocks a potent anti-aging gene called SIRT1. The results are significant because SIRT1 has been proven to inhibit and delay a wide number of illnesses including, but not limited to, cardiovascular disease, cancer, type II diabetes and depression.

BIOMOL International is the same laboratory that collaborated with researchers from Harvard Medical School in 2003 in the discovery of SIRT1. SIRT1 has been shown to extend the lifespan in various organisms by up to 70%.

Reversitall® contains a potent blend of resveratrol and other antioxidant components extracted from the grapes. These components – trans-resveratrol, trans-e-viniferin, and Oligostilbenes – are the building blocks of Resveratrol and are needed for the body's optimal absorption of resveratrol. The compounds have been proven in lab studies to unlock the anti-aging gene of Resveratrol more powerfully than red wine alone.

The amazing health benefits of red wine have long been known. The source of its power is a molecular compound called Resveratrol.

But alcohol in excess is harmful.

"Reversitall Plus® is a non-alcoholic way to enjoy all the important health benefits found in red wine. Reversitall Plus™ provides the boost of drinking dozens of glasses of red wine without the drawbacks," said Darren Rude, vice president of NeoCell, a distributor of Reversitall® products. "It is the most potent concentration of health-promoting Resveratrol. Best of all, it is available today without a prescription."

Reversitall Plus® comes in liquid and caplet form and is available at Costco Wholesale, GNC, Whole Foods Market and other fine health food retailers.
