The man who wrote The Singularity is Near and is working the movie of the same name have an upcoming documentary too. Anyone interested into the ''singularity'' topic should check this out, there's a trailer.

That movie was already released 2 years ago in select theaters. It's expected sometime this year to be released on DVD, and I've been  dying waiting for it  ;)

One way to avoid creating redundant topics is to use the forum search function before posting. Just type in a key word like "transcendent" and select "search titles only" and the search results come up real quick. If there is an existing topic you can add your comments to it.

I am sad that Transcendent Man never came "to a theatre near me". Will have to watch it on cable or DVD.

I'm surprised that Kurzweil couldn't have done better in attracting a bigger audience.  I worked on a much lower budget film that hit major theaters and it was a stupid little thing.  This is just annoying me more at the lack of interest in topics that go outside people's little comfortability zone, and it annoys me even more that comfortability is not considered a word by Merriam Webster Dictionary!

The same people are working on a movie that was shown last fall at the Woodstock film festival to a standing only audience crowd.  The movie's named "2B".  A lot of you may have  seen the trailer and accompanying website, but for those who haven't, the trailer is less than 2 minutes long, and it's...

Mind-blowing filmography.  Transformer Films is in on it!

Website for "2B" with Trailer

From the "Synopsis" page (linked from the main website above)

Quote

New York, soon. Technology’s exponential growth is fast and furious. Human life is in the process of being transformed. Mankind stands on the verge of reengineering its biology—merging with the incredibly intelligent machines it has created. Mia 2.0, the world’s first ‘Transbeman’ and her inventor, the eccentric Dr. Tom Mortlake, conduct a bold political experiment designed to prove that human reliance on the fragile flesh body is over and ‘eternal life‘ is at hand.

Set in the near future, "2B" portrays a familiar decaying world on the cusp of great transformation and awesome wonders. The script is based upon real science and evolving technologies. The ‘technohuman’ conundrum is the hottest and most controversial topic of this century. This film is an entertainment designed to jump-start the conversation about the moral and religious questions raised by the bio-tech revolution. What if you could die and live forever?

Check it out!

It looks like it was actually Fall '09 that it was at the Woodstock film festival. Given that the blog hasn't been updated for nearly 14 months I wonder if anything is still happening with 2B. Maybe it will come out on netflix or iTunes like Transcendant Man eventually.

Below is my Dropbox link to Transcendent Man. I would do a right click and "Save Link As." It may take awhile depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
