I met Aaron Drake during my recent trip to Alcor and learned a lot of new and interesting things about modern day cryonics. Find out the nitty-gritty of what it takes to get a good cryonic suspension with Alcor's Transport Coordinator. Tune in to the Sunday Evening Update on March 28th at 5:00pm EST (2100 GMT).

Thanks for setting this up Mind, I'm sure many of the area cryonic standby volunteer groups would like to attend as well.

You just missed me sending you a PM David--too funny ;) (you posted as I was composing)-possibly many Cryonics UK members will be able to attend? I'm hoping a few of the Texas Alcor Area Readiness team members will be able to make the talk & live Q&A.

I'm going to try to get as many to join us as possible, for sure.

I sent the info to the Texas group, and I'm sure some will be able to attend. I also notified Aschwin as he'd like to attend, but may be traveling (he and Chana will be visiting relatives in Brussels --and they won't be able to make Humanity+ on April 24th sadly).

Thanks for the reminder Jurence. I will do.

Aaron will focus on what preparations can be made by cryonicists ahead of time (ahead of de-animation or pronouncement of "legal" death) in order to produce the most positive outcome - a good suspension. He will also talk a bit about the current state-of-the-art in regards to the technical aspects of suspension. Be sure to bring your questions.

I have seen that they like it if you have experience starting IVs and intubating people when you attend cryonic suspension training courses. How useful are these skills and would learning to start IVs on the hand be sufficient or should one learn to start them in the antecubital region as well?

This might make a great informational video. Remember all, it is recorded in the imminst ustream and will likely be moving to the imminst youtube soon too, which can all be found through imminst.org/tv.

Aaron was a wonderful guest and provided good all-around information about the process of signing up for cryonics, making sure you put yourself in a position to get a good suspension, and some technical details about modern cryonic suspension. The show had good quality audio and video. We were lucky enough to have Aaron appear on a video call.

As to lunar's question about IVs, if I recall, Aaron mentioned that it is not necessary for every member of the response team to have comprehensive IV knowledge/experience, only the lead member of the team (at this point in time anyway).

You can watch the episode here at Ustream.
