Has Modafinil improved your concentration?

From what I've read, the primary effect of Modafinil is its effect on wakefulness & alertness. I am interested in seeing how people have benefited in terms of concentration (reports seem a lot more mixed about this)
Thanks

I think it helps my concentration ability. Being wakeful and alert contributes to your ability to do things. Its not like Adderall or Amphetamines but it gets the job done.

Although I use it sporadically if I have to work for long hours. It can make me too concentrated, that I even forget about breathing... The problem is even though I'm concentrated, it doesn't really helps with my engineering tasks where you have to come up with new ideas...

As an engineering student, I find that modafinil hinders my inductive reasoning- especially in areas such as physics and calculus.

My doctor is recommending it as one dose could help me stay awake just enough to fall asleep at a normal time and wake up at a normal time after.

I voted no because the amount it did help was very slim. I found it just as hard to pay attention as without it, I just wasn't wanting to sleep nearly as bad while trying.
Really what brand did you use? I noticed that some people do notice a difference among brands. Modalert which comes from India is often crap. Some dude here was pming me claiming its good, judging from his poor English, he sounded like a conartist.
The good brands of Modafinil are Provigil, Alertec, and Modiodal(France).
Cephalon are a bunch of SOBs, they have held on the patent for Modafinil in the US aggressively, generics were supposed to come out 4 years ago, but there won't be any generics in the US until next year.

I have used Nuvigil, Modalert, and Provigil. Nuvigil was the best, but Modalert wasn't far behind and was just as good as Provigil. I hear some don't respond to modafinil either way.
But I did try some other offbrand modafinil and it was worthless.
However I have narcolepsy and my ADD is likely caused from sleep problems.

If you have severe ADD Modafinil will not be as effective as Amphetamine based ADD meds such as Adderall and Dexedrine. Also Ritalin maybe more effective for you. Vyvanse is another newer stimulant based on Dexedrine as well.
Modafinil supposedly works better when combined with Strattera which is a nonstimulant ADD drug, however it takes month before Strattera actually produces noticeable effects. Some people have told me though that Strattera creates suicidal thoughts and most people have told me they prefer Adderall or Dexedrine to it. Some people also combine Modafinil with Wellbutrin but I heard this is a very bad idea.
Did you really find Nuvigil to be superior to Provigil? Also is Modalert really of comparable quality to Provigil? I was under the impression that Modalert is often of inconsistent quality.
Modafinil is super expensive, far more expensive than Adderall which is widely considered to be the best medication for ADD, although Adderall XR is very expensive but now is banned in Canada.
My psych had me try Adderall very briefly, I have to say its extremely effective but also very powerful, got my heart beating a lot faster, it has to be used very cautiously.
How strong is Nuvigil compared to Provigil? My pharmacist claims that 150 mg of Nuvigil is like 300 mg of Provigil? Is that true?

ok so i made some research. And it seems the sever skin rach (Steven Johnson syndrome) affected adolescents and children but not adults. Is this the correct conclusion?
The skin rashes were occurring at higher doses, at 340 mg a day. The maximum recommended daily dose is 200 mg. I take only half that and it works a full work day, about 10 hours.
There is a new formulation, Nuvigil, which is really just an isomer of Modafinil. The original Provigil is a racemic mixture of two isomers. I know a few people in the US, they say its easier to get insurance to pay for Nuvigil than for Provgil. However many people say Provigil is better.
If you have very serious ADD and focus issues you are going to need the more traditional ADD medications, Adderall, Dexedrine, Ritalin, etc. to focus.

Well i have attention problems but i am not hyperactive, i do have the occasional restless legs., not sure i qulify for adhd. I don't think they have adderall in the uk, modafinil is apperantly legal to buy as it's not scheduled. I don't know, right now i can't decide between deprenyl and modafinil, im stuck!

I'm in the UK aswell. I've recently ordered Modalert from United Pharmacies (UK) and I'm expecting it within this next few business days. It was amazingly cheap too and I've heard great reports on it. I initially had my eyes set on Adderall, as I'm completely dependent on getting A's this June for me to get into my course at University in September. Unfortunately, as it's a scheduled drug and that, it's extremely difficult to get hold of and even if we could purchase it, it would cost a fortune! :(

Just received my Modalert from United Pharmacy (UK). Delivered to my door exactly 7 working days from the day I made the order. Split the 200mg into 2 and took 1 side (100mg) and all I can say, is that this stuff is nothing short of amazing.
Only side effect I've experienced is dry mouth.
Any more updates? Hows it going with that stuff?

My ones are like this. I believe unitedpharmacies are legitimate.
The best quality Indian Modafinil is Modapro by Cipla. I use Cipla medications for other issues. If you can get Modapro its the best quality generic out there. Modalert has some bad side effects, I tried it, I got headaches, it still woke me up and boosted my concentration but I did not like the side effects.
Alertec is the Canadian version of Modafinil made by Shire which manufactures Adderall. Another Canadian company makes generic Modafinil as well. Canada in general makes high quality medications at more reasonable prices than those in the US.
Another good brand of Modafinil is Modiodal which is really Provigil but with a European brand name.

Why would these different brands of modafinil have different side effects. If it comes from a good company, surely it should be the same. Anything else would mean it has high levels of impurities surely.
Not disputing your experience, just curious about how.
Similarly not disputing anyone's experiences, but I think it's possible with a drug like modafinil and a group who have done so much reading into it's potential side effects some of these effects may be at least partially psychosomatic in nature. On saying that I wouldn't entirely discount the impurities point though I do find it fairly unlikely.
I would emphasise that the occurrence of these side-effects, in my opinion, warrants discontinuing usage even if they may have some psychological base. However, I would also add that I've used the unitedpharmacies modafinil and had no problems.

I'm sorry, this is a bad reason to create a post, but this is the funniest thing I've ever read on this forum. I have nothing to add to the topic.
Edit: Actually I do (noticed there was discussion about suppliers.) I've used Sun Pharma's ModAlert and it works well.

As far as creativity goes, it bumps it up way farther more than ritalin did when I used to take it a while ago
I can make my nemonics more creatively with modafinil while on ritalin they were ok
