Does anyone else, feel like this: I feel as though when i excercise, people are looking at me and going "ugh dont bother" like there is not point, just nervous about hitting the gym is all.

F 'em.  Get some good heavy music pumping through your headphones and focus on what you're there to do...get in shape.  If I find myself thinking about other people in the gym, I know my mind has strayed and I use it as a reminder to refocus on the task at hand.  You familiar with meditation?  It's the same concept there when thoughts pop into your head.  Besides, it's way better to be a fatty in the gym than a fatty on the couch.

Your negative thoughts are normal.  The only thing I can tell you is that you are not the only one who feels this way.  There are other people who have made the leap.  Like I mentioned in another post...  You should get yourself a trainer.  They will make you feel so much better and more motivated.

Don't be nervous.  The same people you think are judging you are mostly thinking about themselves and worrying about how they appear to others.

P90X can be done at home. Purchase a $30 pullup bar for your doorway, some resistance bands, and possibly a yoga mat and you're set. I have a set of dumbbells as well but P90X is no joke and allows me to mix it up and allowed me to get in the best shape of my life in the privacy of my own home and takes about an hour a day. Forget a gym membership. I have no affiliation with the company. Just a huge fan and sharing what worked for me as an option for you to explore. That is all.

P90X is a decent program to get you started, and you can move at your own pace.  But if you feel like you need somebody on your ass and in your face to keep you motivated (trust me I was one of those people) then a trainer is for you.  If you're doing P90X or Insanity workout, and you're having a hard time with a number of things like; keeping up the pace of the workouts, motivation to even turn the DVD on and do the workout, or maybe you don't have the room.  If any of those hinder your progress, and you feel you're just not progressing...  then get yourself a trainer.

I've trained a few people coming off the P90X workouts and I gotta say, their stabilization, muscular endurance, and strength was sorely lacking.  Don't get me wrong...  P90X will HELP you get to where you're going.  I don't believe it's the end-all solution.  For some...  it may be, but definitely not for everybody.

I DO encourage you to try it.

P90X may be a bit too hard core to start with.

Get behind a hot girl at one of the cardio. machines and repeat to yourself "I want, I want" until your 30 minutes are over.  You wont are what anyone thinks.

You may have more of an abundance of those in the Caribbean, Lufega!

I've felt this way before. I think anxiety like this is common. It's prevented me from making full use of memberships I've bought in the past.

One approach is exercising at home but gyms do have equipment that's really useful (high pulldowns for example) which most of us lack. I don't think anyone would look down on you for training lat pulldowns at a gym.

I used to feel the same way. Years of weight training, sports and proper diet have turned that around. It sucks, honestly, I still get that. I'm at a world gym down here in san diego, and if any of you know world gym, Its full of beasts. But in the end screw em, its all about you! your health is, or should be, your top priority! We all had to start somewhere, and thats a fact.

I've learned over the years that diet is AT LEAST half of successful fat loss. It's important with muscle gains as well, but form, technique and the played out muscle confusion is important too. Switch up your routine every month. Bring a buddy to the gym, get some pointers.

Another thing: being in the best shape of my life never stopped me from scruitinizing myself. Your confidence will rarely catch up with your body, but your body will catch up with your confidence.

Don't worry. People try to make you nervous and loss your motivation.
I thing that you have to just concentrate on your goal and achieve it day by day.
If any one ask you that go to well then what you do. Are you reply yes. ?
Dear just stay away all the people and just concentrate on your fitness goal.
Best of luck...
