I've been reading some interesting accounts of DMSO used as carrier on hair loss forums , and wondered if any one else here has considered using it as way of bypassing the usual route ?

The reason Im interested is because I wanted to see if I could use with a product Im interested in trying that usually only works with wounds .

The product itself is sold as bandages but contains an extracellular matrix with the same magical pixie dust stuff that can supposedly regrow finger tips.

As I dont have any open wounds , I thought maybe with the dmso , I could instead have
the extracellular absorbed through the skin and into the deeper layers of my tissue / fascia where all my problems are.

I dont know if it will work, but Im assuming that this should be pretty safe given these bandages are designed to be absorbed into the body through the wound any way.

The idea then was simply to dip the bandages in sterile water as recommended and then apply the dmso gel ( 70 % - 30 % water ) or alternatively dip the bandages in the DMSO first, and then just use a hydrogel wth it, what do you think , would this idea work or not , and if not is it possible ?

Nobody ever answered this.

I'm trying it as a rosmarinic acid carrier but not sure of results if any thus far.

They say that dmso is so good that it will even let bacteria permeate the skin layer.. but your post nate suggests that it isn't effective.. hmm.. Does your DMSO smell bad?

Smells like it did when I got it. I wouldn't say bad. It's 99% pharmaceutical grade, I dilute it to 50% with the RA. I don't see any issues that bacteria would cause, like acne, but I also don't see any change in wrinkle depth. So it's unlikely that RA is any good at breaking the AGE crosslinks in skin. Still hard to tell, gotta give skin treatments 30 days at least before drawing conclusions.

I suppose a bit longer than that, maybe 6 months would be more realistic.:)

DMSO works, no doubts about that (molecular weight of the active isn't overcome therefore keep it in mind).

Adding urea improves penetration further, eliminates bad smell and possible skin adverse reactions (likely to occur after daily prolonged use).

Granular soy lecithin is an interesting alternative, trow some of it in a blender with rosmarinic acid and a bit of water for 5 minutes and enjoy your liposomal high absorption cheap as it comes beauty cream (keep in the fridge and make a new batch every 7-10 days).

Even if it doesn't stay as liposomes when applied topically it is still a wonderfully friendly and cheap penetrant which comes with its own arrays of proprieties.

What was your point about chemical weight, please elaborate further?

Where would one get urea? is it generally legal to import? Does it also eliminate DMSO "garlic" breath?

The molecular weight is the size of the molecule, above a certain size molecules aren't able to cross the skin barrier and get in the blood stream, they are just too big even with the aid of a penetrant like DMSO which somehow "enlarges the passage".

Some molecules can get trough even if relatively big when have an elongated shape (hyaluronic acid, for example, which is able to reach the blood stream up to 400KDa, something impossible for a spherical molecule,of that size) but those are kind of exceptions most have a limit around 500Da.

Therefore DMSO will get to the bone all right but the active that carries not necessarily so if its molecular weight is too big, being able to taste it after application doesn't necessarily means the active got in as well.

Urea comes in small white granules and promptly dissolves in water (or DMSO), is used as a fertilizer in agricolture and should be OK, a pharma or cosmetic grade would be preferable (just in case), is dirt cheap, possess nice emollient and exfoliating proprieties according to the percentage used (generally not above 20-25%), is a benign substance easy to buy on eBay or from a pharmacy, is largely used in the cosmetic industry, any site selling raw material for make your own cosmetics will carry it.

Just a little bit in DMSO will suffice to completely eliminate any garlic breath.

Thanks for the useful info. Now, how the hell do I find out the molecular weight of a chemical?

I also assume that it's only the skin barrier, so oral dmso with a supplement would not have the same issues.

The molecular weight is measured in Daltons (Da) or g/mol  sometimes Wikipedia specifies it for some substances sometimes not and one has to search for it in the web (PubChem or Sigmaaldrich, for example).

I also assume that it's only the skin barrier, so oral dmso with a supplement would not have the same issues.

Yes, it's about skin barrier, oral is different but be aware that usually poor bioavailability isn't that much due to poor absorption in the sense of tissues permeability but by a mechanism that rejects back in the intestines, in order to circumvent that to happen sometimes substances able to inhibit the mechanism are used, like piperine, for example, but it depends by the substance and its underlying mechanism involved.

DMSO enhances permeability of tissues therefore might help better absorption for substances with already good availability but when talking about oral route MSM (a DMSO derivate) should do the same possibly in a safer or more practical way (powder instead of liquid), remember that both DMSO and MSM are antioxidants, take that in consideration if worried about too many antioxidants.

Cool, phosphatidylserine and pantothenic acid are small enough to pass through the skin barrier.

My intention is to do DMSO with these substances and apply it to my testicle area because both supposedly have effects of increasing androgen synthesis locally in the testicles, but they tend to be used elsewhere in the body when taken orally. Would be interesting if they could increase dht any significant amount..

I recommend to have some urea in the DMSO since testicles skin tends to be particularly sensitive and prolonged DMSO use might cause unpleasant skin irritation, urea will eliminate the issue.

I would be interesting to compare testosterone and DHT values before and after.

Sadly no chance of doing that in my socialist country. I can't even willingly pay for blood samples. I will go by what I feel since I've bought real dht before and know how it feels.

Do you think it would be an issue if I used crushed tablets instead of using bulk powder, which has the following fillers: magnesium sterate, Di calcium phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, silicone dioxide (silica)?

Officially those fillers are OK but if their molecular weight is low enough DMSO will carry them inside your body by a route they aren't supposed to.

Some claims they aren't all that harmless even when ingested.

I personally don't like them and try my best to avoid as much as I can, I can only suggest to do the same.

Both B5 and phosphatidylserine are easily (and cheaply) found in powder form

I might be able to provide a discount from the above seller if you wish, just let me know.

I will not use the .com website but one of the EU based ones. How much % discount is it? In any event it wouldn't be today I would order, will order in the start of the next month.

I added Urea to the DMSO. The urea I got seemed to have fairly large grains but I assume it dissolves. I plan to add trehalose as well.

Urea grains are kind of large but dissolves promptly both in water and DMSO.
