Hi, I registered a long time ago with ImmInst, but became really inactive because of economic issues consuming my time.  I missed the email that deleted my account for inactivity in 2009.  My old username was still available.  It is nice to be back.

This issue reminded me of how expensive it can be to pursue goals associated with health and life extension.  I used to take Hgh and other expensive supplements, but I haven't been able to do so for some time now due to economic hardship.  I hope to be able to do this type of enhancement soon once again.

I'd be very interested in hearing from others about low cost approaches to increasing health and longevity.

Cheers,

Scott

Welcome back! :) I feel your pain when it comes to economic woes.  If you want to be involved with volunteering and helping out in ways that may cost little or nothing, don't forget to visit the Action! section or PM Brokenportal.

Found this thread by mere chance, I will contribute too.

Also, Hi Scott! I know this can be expensive, but, Isn't it worth the pain? If you've got a job you can give thanks, I'm stuck on a healthy lifestyle and nothing more...

Don't eat sugar.  That saves money because you aren't buying a bunch of junk with sugar in it..  Cooking real food at home instead of eating out will save money and yield huge health benefits, at least if you cook the right stuff.

If you like curry, there are loads of cheap and healthy veggy curry recipes that can be cooked and excess frozen. As for not eating sugar, I'll admit I have a sweet tooth but I don't go mad with the stuff every day. :p

Don't eat sugar, and really, keep your total calorie count in check. You don't have to go CR necessarily, but eating fewer calories is generally correlated with good health. Exercise. Just walking around the block will do wonders, if you normally don't exercise much.

I was wondering, compared to when you were using HgH and other expensive supplements, how do you feel now? Is there a big difference? No difference?

Hi, sorry for the late reply.  Since I stopped using HgH, the most noticable thing is skin tone for me.  I have less sexual energy and feel less at ease emotionally as well.  The changes happen over many months when one goes off HgH.

I hope to start using it again this year.  I'm considering using IGF-1 in connection with it, as IGF-1 reduces blood sugar and HgH tends to increase it a bit.

Of course the highest aging stimulant in general is glycation from blood sugar levels above 105 mg/dl (some say 85, like Ellis Toussier) and blood glucose can be kept lower without high expense through diet, herbs and even drugs or hormones including glucophage and insulin.  The herb Gymnema Silvestre, Mulberry, Cinnamon, etc. among others can be very effective in this regard.  These are all lower cost than HgH or IGF-1.

You may also sport something for free. Make exercises in home. You may even not need to bye an equipment for some exercises.

P.S. or go jogging in the nearest park.

Thanks for the suggestions about exercise.  I can't run because of a neck injury.  If I run, my arms go numb.  But I have an $8/month gym membership that I bought in 1954 (all club VIP for 24Hr Fitness) that I haven't given up.  I do weight training and aerobics there.  If I drive to the gym, the most expensive part is the gas.  If I go 3X per week @1/2 gallon per visit, that's about 6 gallons of gas per month or $24, not to mention the wear and tear on the car, so in good weather, I ride my bike.  Since they raised the bus prices here, it is cheaper to drive, LOL.

Most of my aerobic exercise is from dancing.  Somehow dancing does not bother my neck as jogging does.  I get a lot of joy dancing as well.  I go to electronic music events 2X per week and I dance harder than 95% of the twenty-somethings there.  I hardly leave the dance floor all night, sometimes dancing alone and sometimes with another.  I was weary at first of entering this world consisting of 80% under-thirty, but because of my positive attitude and high energy, I am well-accepted.  Most nights, I actually get flirted at by one or more young girls or guys, which certainly boosts my ego, LOL.  That helps too.

Dancing for me is a lot of fun.  Fun can be free and it is a major force for health and longevity, without question.

Yes, agreed, exercise is likely the MOST important part of any health or longevity regimen.  Nevertheless, as soon as I can afford it, I'll resume with HgH and other more expensive supplements.

Thanks so much for all the love and support, it is really appreciated.
