Here is an example of a religious person actively discouraging people from supporting indefinite life extension because he assures them that there will be an afterlife and that indefinite life extension here on earth would be a waste.

Yes, God loves you and wants you to be with him so much that he makes you suffer unspeakable agonies before you eject from your mortal body. If this man loves death so much, he can go and be with the Lord right now if he so wished.

Must admit I had a little giggle about Larry King wanting to know what happens to Twitter but to see the advance of technology is one reason I want to stay alive past the time limit nature gave me.

if you ever come across one of these, just tell them "Why would Jesus not give you an eternal life, if you chose to die a little later?", "Why not enjoy this life as long as you can, if you will be in heaven for eternity?" In this way they can keep their beliefs, and still be a potential cryonics enthusiast.

Very good answer! Even if there is an afterlife, I very much like my present human life and as I know there's no way back to this existence, I'd rather stop here for as long as I can and experience as much as I can.

I listened to the video.  Several things stood out to me.

1.. The speaker agrees with me, that the desire for long life is a good thing and he said nothing against it.  In that I am in agreement, it has been the motive of Christians for over 2000 years.  It is the basis for thousands of religious hospitals, medicine, charity, pro life, etc.  It is no surprise that groups such as longecity also desire life.  Nothing the speaker said contradicts this.

2.  The speaker was negative against freezing which some of us are doubtful of as well.  At the sane time while I remain skeptic, I understand why Larry King would not want to die.  I only wish Him well.  I hope He is right.  This is not about religion discouraging indef life

3. Death is a religious issue and we all view it differently even atheists.  For me, I approach it with my faith as was the point of the video.  For me life is a gift and I want to live as long as I can.  However 200 years from now, the chances are we will be dead.  For those who believe it will be longer, I hope you are right.  It won’t affect my faith one way or another.

4.  The video is made from a small evangelistic group and doesn’t represent the hundreds of millions of Christians in America.  It is an “event,” calling itself a church   It is not about non religious Life Extension. With that said it is not anti life.

Well, according to some heaven is merely groveling praise towards god for all eternity.  While on earth you get virtual reality and the ability experience every possible pleasure for indefinite periods.  Regardless heaven may not even be fully coherent, it may be that the human mind requires some form of bodily existence to be at all.

Regards the video, no evidence, no dice.  And he sounds a bit envious of Larry.

Besides many modern christians believe merely being a good person is enough to get you the heaven ticket irregardless of your beliefs.
