chyawanprash: Commonly eaten health food in India. A jam-like mixture of herbs, spices, fruit, roots, barks, seeds and flowers from the Ayurvedic tradition. It is widely used in India due to health benefits. Contains a variety of synergistic phytochemicals indicated to fight off aging.

So guys, I've decided to create a custom longevity jam, loosely based on indian tradition, but consisting of botanical superstars from around the world in optimal proportion.  I would like your help in choosing these herbs. . A few spoonfuls every day should provide a hefty dose of beneficial phytochemicals in their most absorbent and potent form. Enjoy it with your megamuffins. Here's the list so far:

Quote

fruit: (cooked tender in extract of barks/roots/leafs, coconut oil, ghee with manuka honey to sweeten)
amla berries
goji berries
shizandra berries
grapefruit peel
hibiscus petals

seeds: (ground up, cooked partway with fruit)
milk thistle
star anise
clove
cocoa
cardomom
long pepper

leafs: (hot water extract+some ground up leafs)
olive leaf
gingko leaf
gynostemma

roots:
fo-ti
astragalus
bupleureum
rhemmania
dandelion root
licorice root
sarsparilla, jamaican (if obtainable)

barks:
cats claw
cinnamon

thoughts?

First, love this idea! Been using Dubar Chywanprash for a while now but it has pretty low quality ingredients and concentrations. Might want to look into gotu kola which has been shown to increase antiox enzymes. Sign me up that looks like a great list.

I'm definitely considering gotu kola. One of the main considerations is making this stuff tasty. Gotu kola has a very strong taste.

Sounds... herbal. :p

Hope it comes out well, the manuka and goji bits are a bit spendy!

I like the idea too !
I currently prepare a "drink" full of spices/herbs
- lots of turmeric
- gotu cola
- dry garlic
- coriander
- cloves
- astragalus
- portulaca oleracea
- ginger
- mybe more I don't remember now

First step I extract from the herbs with simple cold water, then boiled water.
Then I mix all and drink with water, the taste is bad but drinkable...
Maybe a "jam" would be more palatable, but probably the amount to ingest would be bigger ...

PS. I forgot Cinnamon and a very healthy mushroom I bought in Russia called Chaga

Gingerol, the active ingredient in ginger has all kinds of benifits too. Might consider.

Tried a few bottles of this and it's very tasty.  Most are too sweet though!

i can recommend this chyawanprash 100%, tastes good, better ingredients than dubar, and tested for heavy metals: http://www.amazon.co..._pr_product_top
