Namenda for ADHD treatment long term

klink67's Photo klink67 17 Mar 2013

I am curently taking memantine(nemdaa brand) 10 mg at 8:30 am and 12:30 PM every day. I am prescribed adderall and dexedrine spansule for ADD but only take these PRN now that I am on memantine. I seem to have increased focus, energy, memory, and socialbility with memantine only.

Is memantine a safe long term treatment? Will the benefits go away quickly without dose increase? What dosing times are others using for memantine tablets?

Memantine actually works better than my prescription stimulants for ADHD treatment, hopefully it never stops working.

How is it going ? I'd be interested to know. I'm considering memantine myself for similar purposes.

Its going very well except for when I forget or miss a dose then everything gets screwed up but other than that it works very well for reducing my tolerance to other drugs and medication especially Adderall.

Good to hear. When did you start the memantine? Are you still taking 10mg twice a day? Any side effects? What dose of Adderall do you take and how long have you been on Adderall? Do you take any other meds and supps?

Does it still seem to be helping with sociability, energy, focus and memory?

I found great success with memantine but decided to stop taking it because I fear it might lower testosterone via the opposite mechanism in which d aspartic acid raises it.

I have never heard of memantine affecting testosterone levels. What effects did memantine have on you, both positive and negative? If it lowers testosterone then it might also lower libido and energy. Did it have any effect on these two parameters?
