Hi there... I'm interested in ginseng but I'm really not sure which type should I pick: American, Siberian, Korean?

I'm looking for something that will have similar effect to caffeine, and I read that ginseng has some small percentage of ephedrin (??). If this is the true, which type has it?

So which type of ginseng will make me more focused, talkative and euphoric (the same way that coffee does, but it looses the effect after every day use).

Thank you!

As far as I know, PANAX GINSENG is the one you're looking for.

I've read a lot of reports from people, studies and have done my own tests, and anything but the Panax Ginseng version is useless.

Example:
http://examine.com/s.....

I don't think Ginseng has a psychoactive amount of ephedrine. It'd be banned in my country then.
There doesn't seem to be any studies on Ginseng containing ephedrine either.

Ginseng is a great alternative, since every drug has it's tolerance, I usually shift to Ginseng on days when I avoid caffeine, racetams modafinil and other stuff.
Anecdotally, you experience improved blood flow, vigilance, mood, attention and decreased blood sugar. (In a good way)
It's certainly not identical to caffeine, but you could substitute them.

Panax Ginseng worked great for me.Only reason I stopped using it was because I ran out,and forgot about it.I can't really compare it to coffee. The overall benefits of Panax Ginseng outweigh those of coffee IMO.Ginseng made me feel more energetic physically and mentally throughout the day.Coffee's more like a bad habit for me:-).

Thank you guys, I will go with panax ginseng. One other thing... I can see that on the market you can find panax, white and red ginseng. According to the price range, the red ginseng is the most expensive. Does it mean the the red ginseng is the best choice?

Thnx!

I found in one book about all kinds of supplements that it is known that ginseng contains very, very small dose of pseudoephedrine and if taken in higher doses it can be found during doping control (??).

I don't believe that's a risk at all. But, it depends on the brand. Normal Panax ginseng would VERY UNLIKELY make you test positive.
As far as I know, there are very few, if any known cases of this occurring, and Panax is used by millions.
