[YOLF]

As you may have heard, Richmond Hill Ontario (Canada), has recently banned the number 4 from being used on buildings due to it sounding like the word "death" in Asian languages.

I'm looking for Canadians, especially people with thick or half French accents, or just people who can speak with a Canadian accent, to start posting video responses on youtube and other social media sites.

Basically, we're going to get it wrong! We're going to respond as if we were lobbying the government to do something about death and they actually banned it!

Let's find out the name of the public servant/politician who was in charge of the decision in Richmond Hill and make campaign slogans for them as President of Canada or Governor of Canadiana (for the American's who would like to get involved) and leader of the Canadian Immortality Party (which is better than the American Immortality Party considering the empty bottle meme in Canada)!

Post any contributions you may have to this idea in this thread and a link to your social media contribution here and we'll all go an comment on it, like it etc!

Ok, interesting scenario but I think your idea needs a lot of refinement. Actually I'm not quite sure what your idea is? First of all a few corrections. It's spelled Canucks. There is no president of Canada (there's a Prime Minister, a Governor General and a Queen). The part about wanting really thick Canadian accents, are you wanting this to be seen as Americans parodying Canadians?

We have a running joke that since the border is porous and Canucks and Americans are so friendly and hard to tell apart, that Canadiana (like Indiana) is our 51st state. So we'd have American's supporting the election of the mayor of Richmond Hill for Governor of the 51st state while Canadians were supporting his campaign for Prime Minister or Governor General (I'm gunna have to look that one up). I guess I'm only half as confused as that seeing as I thought you had a President

The idea would be to raise awareness of the immortality movement by drawing attention to ourselves through the affirmation of Canadian and American cultural friendship and closeness. As far as I know, we're some of the only neighbors in history who have never had a war. So we're going to celebrate it as a victory as a show of the political support we can mobilize and keep it going so politicians pay attention and know we're active.

I'm leaning toward the idea that you're trolling here. The level of ignorance you're displaying seems fake. Ever hear of the war of 1812? I'm not even Canadian but I can see where your attitude is quite offensive and tends to show Americans in a poor light. It is impossible to influence people positively if you offend them the minute you open your mouth.

Sorry, not trolling, just playing the part and borrowing whatever ignorance I can from comedy stuff I've heard from time to time. I don't mean to offend, but the comedy stuff is there for a reason, so I guess I'm supporting it whether I'm formally aware of it's function or not. My intent is to be a character and invite roleplaying to the topic, so people have more opportunity to join in with their favorite Canadian Comedy bit. Remember, we're supporting a superstition as valid political victory for our movement for fun and to practice mobilizing an effort and show that we can stir things up.

Personally, I've always seen the Canadian Comedy stuff as being comradery rather than insults. I really don't mean to offend, only to entertain.

I'm unsure what you're trying to accomplish here, and I am pretty sure other fellow Canadians would be offended by this attempt to hijack local politics. People in that area basically decided what they want so I don't know how outsiders could use this as any sort of platform.

I was hoping to mobilize Canadian support rather than to hijack it from abroad. The US effort was just there to look silly. All in all, I'd see it as a celebration of their political success also. Perhaps it would be a better idea to just help with banning death and four in other places?
