Just have a couple general questions for those with experience and/or knowledge with ephedrine.

1- What kind of effect does ephedrine have on memory and learning in general? both acutely, after "coming down", and in the long term?

2 - Is there any potential interactions to worry about with regards to ephedrine and piracetam and ALCAR ?

I like to take ephedrine (16 -24mg) around 3Xs/week before exercise as it gives me a boost of motivation that I simply can't get with caffeine anymore. If it negatively affects memory and learning though I would be willing to give it up.

Thanks in advance,

James

1- I've tried ephedrine sulphate some years ago in finals. I believe it's good at maintaining you motivated, focused and in your seat doing thing. However, it had bad GI symptoms and very soon, gave me some restlesness and agitation and, after 4 days, it burned me and kept me an entire night to 100-105 bpm even drinking alcohol to relax (and I was 18 or so, pretty healthy and young).

2.- As far as I know, there are not dangerous interactions. Stimulant + racetam + ALCAR, it's seen everyday on this forum. You may be careful with the raceness of thoughts, as ALCAR is mentally superstimulating and motivating, so in conjunction with ephedrine, that could mess your study sessions. Someone said, pseudoephedrine was more a of a mental boost, compared with the physical boost ephedrine gives. You may give pseudo a try to see if it's better for studying.

I've done it for over a year and have experienced no noticeable side effects. In fact, something strange with ephedrine and myself..I don't seem to ever develop a tolerance to it when I combine it with caffeine. I normally take all my noots during the day, then come the end of the work day, I'll have 24-30mgs of ephedrine with a medium coffee on the ride home and work out. Alot of people state that it leads to adrenal burnout/fatigue but I almost enjoy the crash feeling because by 9pm, I'm pretty much ready to call it quits (in terms of house/yard work, family stuff) and I'll chill out then go to bed. I suppose if you have a heart condition, it wouldn't be a great idea.

Interesting.

I find that I do develop a tolerance over time and that has also been the experience of my friends who have used it. For this reason I often take breaks from it.

I do love how it makes me feel though. Playing sports I feel very focused and motivated. I can ignore my fatigue much more so.

I've used it quite frequently for 20 years now. I've never really developed a tolerance, however on occasion I feel very little effect, but from my experience I think it may have something to do with what I've eaten that day because I can take a same or even lesser dose the next day and really feel it working well. Took it almost 24/7 when studying for finals in college.

I do not take it prior to sex, in fact I use it less now unless my girlfriend is on her period, then for those 4 days I take it daily - 2 to 3 times a day @ 16 to 24mg per dose. I've tried taking cialis with it to counter the effect but I just felt real weird, really weird, hard to describe - not too uncomfortable but just weird.

I have taken it with 1.25mg selegiline a few times too - it's given me a perfect zen but unfortunately I feel a bit depressed a few days after that.

U.S. laws suck! it's been excessively difficult to get in the past few years here.

Well, in "feeling" you might, but have you ever checked your heart rate while taking it? I believe that thermogenesis is still occurring to some degree so as a fat burner, it could still be exerting some effect. As a pick me up? Perhaps not. For me, when I combine it with a coffee on my way home from work, it gives me that much needed lift.

Heh, you think US Laws suck? It's available here in 8mg tabs only. But yeah, it'll surely skew the ability to bone.

I understand, but I'm thankful you guys still sell it, otherwise I'd have more of a difficulty finding a source. One of my sources from our neighbors up north quit selling it to me, giving excuses about them having to convert their website for Winnipeg Post Services - real vague and nonsensical response to my question "why not anymore?"

Biggest reason it was banned is because it crossed BigPharma interests imo. 2nd reason was that you can make meth out of it. The seller probably faced stiff penalties if caught selling for some reason. In Canada, they found no evidence to suggest it was dangerous when used properly but reduced is availability from 30mgs to 8 per tab.

I don't know about your state's laws, but it is still federally legal in the US. I've bought a package of it in the past year. You have to get it from behind the counter at a pharmacy. Just ask for "Bronkaid" or "Primatene" tablets(unless there is a cheaper store brand, which I'm not sure if they exist or not). They look at your identification, record the purchase, and you also have to sign something IIRC.

Personally I've loved ephedrine for a pre-workout stimulant. Mix it with high dose tyrosine(try a gram or two) taken on an empty stomach and 200mg caffeine and you will be bouncing off the walls and breaking personal records left and right... or you will end up over-stimulated and jittery, lol. In my experience I've had trouble sleeping after using it, and it seems to overstimulate to an extent that it can be a little over stressful. I would cycle it on and off, something like 2 weeks on 3 weeks off, or take extended breaks after more continuous use. I doubt anyone can say anything other than personal subjective experience on learning/memory and ephedrine, but as long as you are sleeping fine and don't feel adverse effects I think you'll be fine.

I have used ephidrine for about 25 yrs on/off...usually no more than 1-2 weeks off. I have noticed no ill effect on bp or anything. Then again, I don't take more than 25mg at a time and rarely more than that per day. I do wish I could get ephidrine without all that guaifenesin in it! I take it with coffee and Vit B-5....sometimes 1/2 asprin too. I was taking graduate course work 2 years back and that combo helped a lot during back to back lectures--I could stay focused much better. I have no idea how it would compare to amphetamine or other Rx options.

Interesting responses. I didn't know it was so popular as a study/focues aid. I mainly use it prior to exercise myself. Feels too thermogenic for a study aid for myself personally.
