To what does Flores owe his longevity?

"I walk a lot, that's all. I go out with the animals," says Flores, who long herded cattle and sheep. "I don't eat noodles or rice, only barley. I used to grow potatoes, beans, oca (an Andean tuber)."

He's also apparently chewed coca leaves all his life. Who knows if records are accurate but even if he's 5 years younger than 123 he's still lived longer than the longest recorded life of a man ever, and he's still alive.

I wonder what happened to the rest of his family? Only one of his kids is still alive at 67? He was still fathering at around 56 I guess... I was going to say that his wife must have also been pretty old, but at 56, his wife would have had to have been younger than he. Younger wives and children later in life the secret to long lived men? Doesn't say what the birth order was either... He could have been even older for the other two.

I wonder how much it would cost to arrange transportation for him to and from the nearest eye doctor. That old man needs some glasses from some immortalists! Any Bolivian members here?
