I read about mucuna pruriens being able to promote the release of HGH (human growth hormone). Someone told me he would not mess with anything that have anything to do with acting on the brain waves yet the use of actual HGH is common in the bodybuilding world. I have used Kigtropin HGH in the past. Mucuna pruriens is simply legal and affordable. Its other name is velvet bean, which I think can be eaten. Would the same effect between eating velvet beans and taking the mucuna pririens supplement be the same? I don't mind having beans as part of my diet. I eat black and brown beans all the time. I wonder how velvet beans taste like. I've never looked into it if it is for sale in the supermarkets.

Hi Eon,

I think mucuna pruriens like l-dopa is not safe. Gelatin is a much safer option to raise hgh levels.

Cheers,

Simon

Unfortunately my favorite bulk powder retailer does not carry bulk gelatin powders. I'd have to look elsewhere for it. Is it cheap though?

There is no reproducible evidence that Mucuna increases HGH, and it is potentially harmful. I would save my money if I were you.

Not sure how much it would be to sell and ship to U.S.

I could probably find a domestic seller.

this is helpful. lol. everyone seem to say mucuna pruriens "might" be harmful but why is it still being sold? If I was a seller for it, I would discontinue its sale. I still can't find any info. on gelatin being good as HGH. All I know is that it is made from animal source (mainly beef). I guess gelatin is good if you don't want to eat a pound of meat a day. A tablespoon of gelatin is said to have about 9g of protein. Maybe that's the reason why it functions like HGH? A scoop of protein powder has about 20g of protein, which is about 2 tablespoons I think. Maybe there's more to gelatin than just high protein. Gelatin is said to strengthen fingernails as well...

short answer: no.

the Now Foods gelatin product is only 86% protein. It has about 9g of protein per tablespoon. I'm curious if the higher the percentage of the protein is, let's say 99% protein, I would assume the protein grams would be higher than just 9g per tablespoon, correct? There's a difference in quality between low and high percentage. I don't eat dark chocolates if it's less than 90% cocoa for example.

out of all these 3 sellers, bulkfoods has the cheapest prices. Atleast 30-50% cheaper on some products but you have to buy big. Do you have a coupon discount code for bulkfoods? I looked it up but there's none floating around the internet.

The serving size suggestion of the NOW Foods gelatin is about 1 tablespoon. Just wondering if that equals to about 4 grams? I would think 1 tablespoon would be more than just 4 grams but gelatin is gelatin.

Mucuna works and will increase your sex drive through dopamine but if you keep using it your brain will become dependent to it to raise dopamine, much like a drug. So the choice is yours.gelatin can be good because of the amino acids it contains.certain amino acids are known to stimulate hgh release. Glutamine is one.

I don't recommend mixing a couple of teaspoons with water then drinking, it came right out

Ok I had just tried gelatin powders for the past few days. When mixed in cold drinks make sure to drink it immediately otherwise it will turn into jello. Interesting when mixed into hot beverage such as tea or coffee that it doesn't turn into jello, it gives the beverage a smoother taste and a nice aroma. I mixed about a teaspoon of it into my drink. I measured in my gram scale that a teaspoon is about 5 grams.

I just bought some L-Arginine. It is said to help growth hormone production. Anyone ever tried this? This is by far the worst tasting bulk powder I have ever tried. I'd need to capsulize this.

by the way, what do you think of glycine? although gelatin has one of the highest glycine of any source, there is a supplement being sold as just glycine. It does have a higher collagen content and I read somewhere it helps with sleep when taking before bedtime. Not sure what its effects are regarding hgh.

I used gelatin to loose weight and I had such good results I never investigated alternatives. In never used glycine. Since most of these supplements are inexpensive so why don't you just try it?

I never noticed any differences between taking it in the morning and taking it in the evening. The way I understood it it should work better when you take it in the evening.

Some GABA before bed to go with your Gelatine may be a good idea, but I seem to remember some negative effect?
As always; the devil is likely in the dosage.

I can't figure out what gelatin's role is regarding weight loss. Can someone enlighten me?

I expected to gain some weight due to its HGH related stuff, but I lost 2 pounds when I know I had been eating. Not sure if it was from a combo of other things I take and from my workouts as well.

any idea the amount of gelatin is in a gelatin capsule? I take several types of supplements which mostly have capsules made of gelatin. Capsules vary in sizes.

there was an article I came across but have to look up again that mentioned how to increase height which have a blend of: glycine, arginine, zinc, niacin, as well as other stuff I forgot. The first 2, gelatin has them, especially glycine, in higher amounts.
