This coming Tuesday 29 October 2013 the British Longevity Society is hosting an event at the House of Commons, Room 18, St Stephens entrance. The event starts at 7 pm (but arrive 30 mins early for security clearance) and speakers are the Minister for Care and Support Norman Lamp, prof Dame Linda Partridge and Anders Sandberg. Entrance fee is £15 and includes sandwiches in a pub afterwards. The subject is extreme lifespans and implications on society. We hope to get the politicians to consider the possibility of extreme life extension and act accordingly. For more details contact me at drmarios@live.it

It was a good meeting, and we discussed the usual themes (longevity affecting society, pensions etc). But it was encouraging that the minister was more positve than expected, and announced that he will be working towards increasing funding for basic aging research rather than treatment of established age related illnesses. Now we are contacting other MPs/ministers to promote the subject and see where it leads us.

Excellent news and good that he didn't just brush this aside. :)
