IF I had ataxia (I don't) I would definitely encourage to try taltirelin, it has no side effects.
I've been trying it off-label hoping for some psychological improvement in mood/energy, but it hasn't done much of anything in these departments. Been on it for almost a month's worth of taltirelin 5mg daily. Otherwise it seems to be an excellent quality drug that I won't bother with after the current supply runs out.
Ibudilast I gave up w/shortly maybe about 2 or so weeks into the trial. All it seemed to do for me was make sleep a bit shallower, otherwise it had no other noticeable effects that I could notice. No anti-inflammatory or noticeable pain reduction. Not many side-effects either.
I wouldn't recommend any of these 2 for off label use. Taltirelin is hellishly expensive, but I just HAD to give it a trial because it looked so damn good on paper. If it were 20$ for a month's worth I would be tempted to keep it, but its many times that, so never again will buy.
I think ibudilast may be of potential use w/addictive substances like stimulants, but other than that it's not for me.
Sad to report a waste of $. But for me they were.
