Hello everyone,

After lurking for about 6 months and reading about Nootropics I decided to give it a go. I am hoping to nurture my brain after some experimental activity that depleted my dopamine. A noteworthy tidbit is that I am a 30 year old who always suffered from some type of ADHD. I'm a multi-tasker who often starts 20 projects and then gets anxiety over finishing them all. Sometimes this has worked out for the best (my professional career is at a top IT corporation) so I do function when I need to, but generally speaking, my mind has always been full of ideas that are all over the place. I never tried adderall or ritalin.

My biggest issue post 'rage-fest' has been that I am ridden with anxiety and my source of cordination and memory recall has taken a slight hit. For one example, I have driving on a highway anxiety that never existed before.

As of the past 3 weeks my stack looks as follows:
  • Source of Life - Multivitamin
  • Astaxanthin - Antioxidant (ATX)
  • Reishi Mushroom
  • Krill Oil - Omegas
  • Piracetam - 2400mg per day (3 x 800)
  • CDP Choline - 500mg
  • L-Theanine - 400mg
  • Adrafinil - 600mg
  • L-Tyrosine - 500mg
I generally take Piracetam, Choline, L-Theanine and Adrafinil first thing upon waking up on an empty stomach. The Multi, ATX, Krill and Reishi are taken with food. My diet is 'varied' and I eat a lot of eggs, red-meat, fish, chicken, almond butter and fruits (bananas, mangos, apples) and my snack food throughout the day are generally almonds, walnuts, pistachios and flaxseed sprinkles on almond butter sandwiches.

Its notable to mentioned that I also vaporize marijuana at night so I've definitely noticed how these Nootropics impacted my high. I will say that it takes some time to get used to it but the differences are very subtle. I appreciate how this stack has made me more alert although I am not sure if its good to use it every day. My current regiment is to take these Nootropics on Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays and Wednesdays. Not sure if this effective or not but I figure I give my liver a break here and there throughout the week.

Are there any other Nootropics I should add to this stack?

I really appreciate everyone taking time to read this.

For anxiety (and memory) it is worth looking into adaptogens. Bacopa and Ashwagandha in particular sound like they could help.
I think everyone would agree that (ar)modafinil is vastly preferable to adrafinil, but it is also harder to acquire and much more expensive.
Is there any particular reason you use krill oil instead of fish oil? I still don't see why some people prefer it.
I can't help but raise an eyebrow when you mention you are having memory recall issues, and later that you use marijuana. I don't know how often you vape, but if it is daily or close to it, cutting back on that would probably make more of a difference than taking a pill would. If you like to use marijuana partially to deal with stress/anxiety, something like Bacopa might be able to cover for that (probably not as well as marijuana in the short-term) while being significantly better for your memory.
It's also worth considering aniracetam. Good luck!

I get adrafinil from smart drugs for thought, seems to be a good company - but its expensive. That sounds like a good stack, if you are taking the adrafinil daily it might be worth getting you liver function checked periodically. It has been suggested on these forums to take NAC or milk thistle to combat any hepatotoxic issues from the adrafinil in its conversion to modafinil. Personally I like NAC. Keep us posted how the stack is going.

Hi Jefe,

Is there any particular reason why you like Noopept over Piracitam? Is it stronger?

As far as Adrafinil goes, I get it from Smart Drugs For Thought. Although I very much appreciate their site and how much information they provide, the prices are fairly expensive so I am thinking about buying my own capsule filling machine and purchasing Nootropics in bulk.

Re: Theanine seems to be doing wonders for my anxiety as well. Overall, my 'difference' while taking these Nootropics has been very subtle but quite noticable.

Hey there,

I will look further into adaptogens. I've seen Bacopa and Ashwagandha pop up frequently as well. That will be next to try once I am done with this stack.
In regards to Modafinil, a friend of mine ordered it from some UK company and its been stuck at customs for over 3 weeks hence why I went with Adrafinil for the time being.

I started using Krill Oil once my nutritionist told me to start taking Astaxanthin. She said those two work quite well together and that Krill Oil is vastly superior to regular fish oil. Krill Oil does contain traces of Astaxanthin but apparently not enough. In addition, Krill Oil has eliminated fish-burps for me so I generally prefer it now over my old cod-liver supplement.

Re: Marijuana is something I've used to help with my neck hernia. I had a bad car accident 3 years ago and have c3,c4,c5,c6 herniated which causes my right shoulder & arm to go completely numb. In addition, I also have carpal tunnel in my right hand. The pain is incredibly annoying and sharp and nothing that doctors prescribed me worked as well as marijuana. I was given Tramadol, Vicodin and Tizaindine and all those drugs did was give me insomnia and irritability. So in short, Marijuana provided me with numerous benefits. I spend a great deal of my work coding (web) & editing (video) and really need good and solid focus to get through my work and so far (for past 5 years) marijuana has helped me more than anything else. Oddly enough, no one really knows that I am high either. My friends and family say I act normal and more focused.

My memory recall has only gotten bad because I went through about 3 months of substance abuse (cocaine). If anything, when I started vaporizing marijuana I was able to recall memories from when I was 2 and 3 years old which completely baffled my family and my doctor. I realize Marijuana makes some people completely aloof but the way it effects me is completely different. I would go as far as to say that Marijuana use has helped my professional and social life better than anything else. Atop of that, it is fantastic for my neck hernia. I really don't want to take Vicodin or Tramadol so Marijuana provides relief for me. All in all, I contribute my educational, corporate & IT success to Marijuana. I go through about 3-4 ebooks per week and continously improve my technical/programming skills because of it so all in all, I don't see Marijuana as a bad thing in my life. It provides more benefits than I can count. I know it effects everyone differently but these are just my 2 cents.

I will surely try out Aniracetam, Bacopa and Ashwagandha. Thank you very much for your suggestions & comments. I really appreciate it!

Cheers from Bosnia!

Thanks for the tip! I actually forgot to add that I use Live Detoxifier & Regenerator which has Milk Thistle inside of it along with NAC, Grape Seed and bunch of other things. I just generally use this over the weekends if I consume any alcohol.

Be careful; I can't find the study right now, but I have heard that while taking NAC before drinking is protective, taking it the next day makes things worse. That blend doesn't have a whole lot of NAC in it, and I don't know when you take it in relation to drinking or how much you drink, but you should be aware.
It's strange how circumstances can make a "good" molecule hurt you. Earlier today I read an article saying that while melatonin is normally an antioxidant, if taken while on methamphetamine is becomes pro-oxidant and actually makes the damage from meth worse.

I never heard that about taking NAC after drinking could make things worse, can anyone explain this? I would think either way it is a pro drug to glutathione which is where the benefit is coming from.. Anyone have any ideas?
