Hi.

I am struggling with shin splits (medial tibial stress syndrome) also called tibial periostitis.
It gets worse by running on a treadmill, but the thing is that I really want to run on the treadmill because I get such a good workout from it.
Aside from dropping the treadmill which other things can I do to get rid of shin splits?

Thanks for answering :)

I've been having this issue for a while, went to a rheumatologist who instead decided to focus on my coccyx pain. What I found works is to simply lay off training for a while and try some aspirin (baby) before going to sleep. There is little a doctor can do based on what I read online (unless your shin split is caused by something serious such as an osteoma or na osteosacroma, would not rule these out, they are very very slow growing tumors) is that very little can be done besides getting better running shoes or running barefoot. Medically something can be done and that's fix your broken leg once the shin split turns into a fracture.

Then again I'm not a doctor so there may be hope out there :)
