Has anyone heard anything about using RNA to improve short term memory? I came across a short blog post by Dr. David Williams about this (http://www.drdavidwi.../#axzz2xH1CNTxs). I could not find any information on this other than his post or anything written by Dr. Goodheart, who is mentioned in the post. I bought some RNA/DNA from Swansons (http://www.swansonvi...-10-mg-250-tabs). Seems like its from brewer's yeast. I can't find out what the proper dose is for this. I followed Dr. Williams suggestion of trying enough pills until you can balance on one leg with eyes closed. I stopped after 8 pills as I didn't notice much of an improvement, i.e., I couldn't take the pills and notice a sudden improvement in balance an hour or two later. Also, they tasted too bad to chew so I had to swallow them. However, I could initially only balance on one leg for 3 seconds; now after taking 8 pills a day for 2 weeks I can balance for 20 seconds.

Not really sure what to make of this. Also, is brewer's yeast gluten free? I've found going gluten free has helped greatly in clearing up brain fog (credit: the book Grain Brain by Dr. Perlmutter).

What do you mean by balancing on one leg? Just picking one up or something else? I've found that lack of such balance is an all in your head kind of thing. I can do it indefinitely with no supplements. I'd try not taking them at all and changing your attitude. I'm out of shape btw.

Try UMP, it should be a more potent way of achieving this.

There is a plethora of information on RNA therapy; check this out, by Dr. Ward Dean, as an introduction. The scientist/physician he references, Dr. Frank, has authored some books on RNA therapy for anti-aging, cognitive/emotional enhancement, and reversing disease. Additionally, Dr. Amy Yasko and Dr. Gary Gordon are pioneering electromedicine and RNA/nutrigenomic physicians/researchers. Check this out, "A Basic Introduction to RNA".

Additionally, Dr. Amy Yasko's RNA supplements seem like they're of high quality. I haven't tried them, but in the near future I'm going to. After you use up the one(s) you purchased, you should try hers out.

Thanks for the info BigPapaChakra. That blog post by Dr. Dean talking about Dr. Frank's dietary recommendations to increase RNA in the diet was very useful. I already eat sardines, but only about once a week. I had no idea that they were the richest dietary source of RNA. I'll try upping my consumption to 4x a week like Dr. Frank suggests and see if that helps my memory. I'll still continue talking those Swanson's RNA pills since I haven't noticed any adverse effect and they are cheap.

No problem! I'll have to look for the studies again, but I believe that the article was flawed in that sardines were the best source - (I may be wrong, I have to check, but) I believe some pastured organ meat was, I just can't pinpoint which one. Nonetheless, all organ meats are high in different forms of RNA, as are sardines and fish eggs. Let me know how the Swanson RNA goes for the time being. I'm really interested in RNA for my own issues - I was thinking of using Dr. Yasko's RNA, though there is a variety of RNA she uses for different things, and I have no idea what would be best; additionally, they're quite expensive. I have some of Dr. Carolyn Dean's RNA right now (from a trial bottle), but haven't used it yet.

Yeah that article on RNA by Dr. Yasko had a nice list of foods high in RNA. Pinto Beans were #1 in RNA content per 100g, Chicken Liver was #2, Anchovies and Sardines basically tied for #3. Another nice benefit of eating beans is that they are high in PQQ.

You'd be wise to be skeptical of all of Yasko's products though. There really is no proof that all of her expensive variations of RNA actually do what she claims they do. I personally think food is always better than popping a pill, but if you want to try a supp I'd start with the cheap basic RNA from brewer's yeast and see how that works out.

I'll post an update once I start eating more sardines and pinto beans.
