I will definitely give the 1/10th kava a try.  It's okay to take a for a few months right?  Will it screw up my benzo withdrawals by prolonging?  Thanks for the advice.

Definitly try kava for now. I would reccomend you get of Kanna temporarily just incase their is some kind of unknown reaction. Yes, people take kava all their lives and are still happy and healthy. Kava will not screw up your recovery. In fact, Kava should speed up your recovery. Because Benzo withdrawls are caused by downregulation of GABA, Kava should help in the long term because it actually causes GABA upregulation.

As a child growing up we always had Kannas in the garden.  We were always warned that they are poisonous.

Are you sure we are talking about the same plant? The Kanna that I am taking about is a herb that grows and has been used for 1000s of years in Africa. It was used for all types of rituals, and is still very popular today.

I think so.  I grew up in South Africa.  Maybe its psychoactive effects were considered to be a type of poisoning.

Probably, my mother grew up in poland and over there they were warned as children that the passion flower causes death. So it wouldn't suprise me.

But I remember reading stories of african shamans wlaking thousans of miles just to harvest a little bit of kanna for chewing.

I wouldnt go for 40x extract for kanna.

For some reason the non extract (dried herb) or just 10x extract seem to work much better for anxiety and depression.

Or for overall effects as well. The higher extracts (40x, UC, UC2) for me seem to be just big uncomfortable burst/rush which is short time although still gives some relaxation after the rush, but it never really felt good for depression/anxiety use.

And AFAIK low dose should be stimulating and higher doses should be sedating.

But it usually makes me more sleepy later in the day and also it seems to be harder to wake up. Sometimes I just turn off the alarm and dont even remember it, but that happens also when I dont use kanna, but not as often. But I rather like the effects of it on another day. Lets say I dose kanna in afternoon/evening, the next day it has very nice mood lifting effects but are very very subtle.

Remember that there are also other compounds which may have synergetic effect in non extract dried herb and extracts take those away to only leave the mesembrine.

And by the way, Kanna has reverse tolerance. Which means the longer you use it, the better/stronger the effects.

And also kanna can initially make anxiety worse but just after few minutes should come a relief.

I cant say for 100% percent that it has helped me with my anxiety/depression just because I was not dosing it properly (not everyday, not same dosages) and there were also many other (substance/non-substance) factors to it. But overall, I would still say that it is a little helper for this.

Most of these things are just my experience and opinions.

OMG stupid stupid me.  I never continued on with the kanna but I thought it would be a good idea to throw in a quarter of a pill of kava and see what happens for my benzo withdrawal.  I completely regret it.  I still haven't slept and there's this nervous energy running down my limbs and in my chest.  The kava is 30% at 400mg.

I was doing so well on rhodiola and relora and I had to do this for myself!! WHY????  Usually I take a relora to calm down my adrenals if I get anxious but I'm too scared to take anything.  I took the kava about 5 hours ago.  Would it be okay to take a relora?  Please help!!!
