What is depressing and what sucks? This is nothing ground breaking or new being said by Hawking.

AI has the potential to either save humanity from itself or to destroy us.

You can't avoid the fact that AI will outsmart us.

So what can we do to prevent any rebellion ever ?

Doesn't matter what happens, we need to keep advancing, as fast as possible. The way i see it:

We develop strong AI and it kills us --> we're dead

We don't develop strong AI --> we won't beat aging in this century and we're all dead of old age

We develop friendly strong AI --> we're all saved

I'd rather a quick death to a slow one. I'd like a chance to beat aging even if it means the potential end of humankind. I believe it's our generation's only chance of beating aging.

interesting man.

Still, the chances seems very high.

Chances are AI doesn't care of script like "be friendly" lol
