And marathon running every day

See http://qr.ae/Khwh7

However,  if you rarely stress your heart these drugs are basically causing the  chemical equivalent (depending on dose and route of entry) of running a  10K without being able to stop.  Interestingly cocaine/amphetamines can  have a protective effect on the heart (in terms of heart attacks)  because they cause your body to recruit more blood vessels to deal with  the times when the drug causes serious vaso-constriction and limits  blood flow (much bigger issue with cocaine), so if an entire artery was  blocked you would have "collaleral" flow which would save that tissue.   The problem is that chronically these events could cause micro-infarcts  (think very small heart attacks) resulting in loss of functional heart  tissue that could lead to heart failure.  Unfortunately I think our  generation are the guinea pigs to see how much "chronic" use (every day)  of these meds actually matters

I'm curious...

Could marathon running/increased heart rate be innocuous for those with BPs of 100/60, but more risky for those with higher BPs? Also, what if one's BP doesn't increase at all on meds? (even if one's heart rate increases).

Depends on the dose, duration, and if there are any congenital problems.

Regarding the quote text, i doubt out generation are genuine pigs considering amphetamines and methylphenadate have been prescribed for more than a few decades.

That being said, Im sure high does of it can yield bad results.
