Hi all,

I read everywhere that omega 3 fatty acids helps fibromyalgia, it reduces inflammation and more.

However, i have tried 3 different brands now and omega 3 only increases my fibromyalgia pain.

I wonder what that could be? An allergic reaction to seafood maybe?

Some people have negative reactions to fish oil. Might be caused by inadequate vit E and/or lipid peroxidation.

Thanks for that Link Rwac. Interesting, I will look into my vitamin e first.

The strange thing by me is that i take fish oil for a long time without any problems, it helped me alot with my memory. However, since i have fibromyalgia it increases the fibro pain.

That's exactly what happened to me. It helped quite a lot with memory and alertness for a long time (months? years?). Then it stopped and caused drowsiness and such.

I don't know exactly what's going on with fish oil and fm, but fm is associated with increased oxidative stress, and fish oil is very oxidation-prone.  It almost always comes formulated with some alpha tocopherol, but that's really just meant to protect it while it's on the shelf.   You might want to try a lipid-soluble antioxidant, particularly one that would get into the same membranes that fish oil fatty acids end up in.  The one I'd recommend is c60-oo.  Either of you ever try that?  (with or without fish oil)

I've thought about it, C60-oo is probably at the top of my list along with NR. I get a bunch of NR (100mg?) from milk though.

Issues blocking me:

1. Overseas shipping is expensive, c60-oo is as well.

2. I can't seem to access the sarah vaughter site (owndoc.com) or c60antiaging.com, I don't know why.

3. I'm more cautious with experimental supplements these days.

The first two are easy to solve- carbon60oliveoil.com is in California, is very professional, and has free shipping.  They are my preferred supplier.

The third is a little trickier.  I can tell you a couple things regarding that.  The first is that I'm pretty cautious about new supplements, and did a lot of literature research as well as carefully following everyone's reports of their experiences with it for quite a while before starting to use it.  It's now been in ~ten thousand humans, my estimate based on the size of the various producers and what I know about their operations.  There are no reports of serious harm that I'm aware of.  The worst side effect I know of is temporary erectile dysfunction.  It is relatively rare, probably less than 1% of males, and can be fixed by reducing the dose and/or use of viagra.

If a person is young and perfectly healthy, then I would err on the side of caution and wait a couple years, but for anyone who has a condition that might be improved by it, well, if it were me, I'd give it a try.   For some conditions (asthma, statin injury / mitchondrial dysfunction, COPD, symptoms of postural hypotension, atopic/inflammatory skin conditions like eczema or leukoplakia) we've seen really remarkable improvements.  Oxidative stress and mitochondrial involvement with FM suggest that it's worth looking at in such conditions.

Thanks, c60-oo looks promosing. I will look into it.

About FM and the increased oxidative stress, I take 1500mg vitamin c divided in 3 doses. Are there any other suggestions to limit the oxidative stress? (apart from supplements i do mindfulness).
