Just a thought, but maybe they were counting each component of their multi, as well as other multi-component mixtures, as a separate supplement. That way one pill could be 20 or 30 supplements. But it's still a lot. Does Kurzweil ever stop in here?

Or it could be over a lifetime; there many things I have tried and discarded as ineffective, not worth it, potentially damaging as experience and new findings accrue. Some people's supplement lists read like suicide notes.

40-50. I'm very moderate in getting a wide variety of nutrients. I take low doses of a lot of things that have traditionally existed in the human diet. So I'm not worried. On the contrary, I've noted several improvements across the board.

Does anyone know of any studies researching into the bioavailability when taking all these supplements at once in addition to food?

The only thing I take together are pomeratrol, Vitamin C, astaxanthin and grape seed extract. Everything else is taken at separate times, once at a time.

I am around 40 pills a day. Before it was around 80.
Beyond these 40 pills I take about 12 different bulk powders (cheaper).

Same reason I don't take a multi. I have a question though, what individual vitamins do you take?

my vitamin regimin is very personalized, so i think its great for me but may not work for others.

i try to use whole food items wherever possible, so instead of a multi mineral i take kelp powder, instead of vitamin C i take acerola cherry powder, instead of b vitamins i take active bakers yeast.

i also take TMG, grapeseed extract and/or pine bark, methyl B12, multi amino plus ornithine/arginine, selenium, occasionally GABA to help sleep.

also barley grass powder, spinach powder, spirulina, liquid chlorphyl - all of which i mix together in juice. usually fresh made celery/carrot/cucumber juice.

the list of supplements i have taken and ultimately decided to stop is LONG. really long. now i concentrate more and more on food based supplements and less on fractionated stand alone substances. my research has lead me to believe that the literally thousands of co-factors that exist together in food complexes is critical for proper digestion and assimilation of nutrients.

how bout you, what do you take?

EDIT: forgot to add Vitamin D which i take during the winter months when i cant get out into the sun

I agree with you. I've noticed that whole food supplements take the cake. For example Royal Jelly + Yeast + kelp does much more for me than a b complex. Nutrition is still a foggy study.
