Dear Longecity members,

I have been doing some research on Ritalin and Modafinil, as I would like something to help me study and/or remember/recall things.

I am not looking for a miracle but after reading a vast amount of threads here, M & R both have their pros and cons.

I *just* passed my exams but did extremely bad, was predicated a First but I ended up with a low 2:1.

It would be humbly appreciated if anyone could provide some insight on which one I should go for (or if there's anything else - I have read some threads on Aniracetam too but unsure on what I should do).

Many thanks,

Mak1

You could try a racetam first, since you mentioned it. Some of them provide the mental stimulation people are looking for without having to try a drug. Beyond that, we are partial to modafinil, but would certainly encourage you to try Ritalin if you found it preferable since both your options are not amphetamines.

Modafinil worked but affected my sleep too much . Ritalin wears off faster but tolerance builds quickly if I take it every day.

Thanks for the replies, if I took Modafinil, how much would you recommend on taking and in what period? I'm new to this (as you may have noticed by my posts already), so would appreciate some guidance.

You would likely want to start off with 100 mg (half dose) [or 50 mg (quarter dose) if you wanted to be really cautious]. We find the best way to take modafinil is in the morning, either an hour before or after eating food, after you are well-awake (so maybe after a shower, some morning exercises, taking your pet outside, etc.). This way your blood is flowing and you are nearing your normal daytime so that modafinil can boost your performance rather than just trying to drag you up to baseline.

Would you recommend Modafinil that is manufactured by sun pharmaceuticals?

I am using IndiaMART to source mine as I cannot find anyone local or within the UK. Someone also recommended me to use Modup or medsforbitcoin but the suppliers on IndiaMART are cheaper (but then there's the chance that it isn't Modafinil..).

I would just like to add that I have also found phenylpiracetam aids in focus after looking at a variety of threads.

If someone who has tried Phenylpiracetam only, modafinil only or both could advise on what route I should take, please do post.

Many thanks.

The phenyl is going to help more with memory retention. Modafinil is generally stronger as far as providing focus, but if you find that you get the level of focus you need with just phenyl, there is not really any need to pair phenyl with modafinil, as this could just be overkill. Otherwise, if you do need more focus than what phenyl can provide, you could pair them for the memory retention from phenyl combined with the focus level of modafinil.

As far as your question about Sun Pharma, the Modalert from Sun Pharma and the Modvigil from HAB Pharma should technically be the same level of effectiveness, as they are just generic modafinil. However, some people seem to prefer one over the other, but general consensus is that Modalert is a little better than Modvigil.

Noone has said it so I will... Ritalin or dexedrine are much better for focus and motivation. Yes they are addicting and you may develop tolerance but any other drugs will not be nearly as effective. Just set yourself at a low dose and don't increase it. But stay away from them if you have an addictive nature.

Thank you for your kind replies.

I am going to test Modfinil, have been contacting suppliers from IndiaMART, I guess I'll need to take a plunge since I am unable to source anyone within the UK (unless of course anyone here knows anyone). I'll keep Ritalin just as a backup.

P.S. I was quoted the following;

$40 for 100 tablets (Modafinil 200mg)

$45 for 100 tablets (Ritalin 10mg)

Would you say the prices are right? I know that almost every supplier has their own prices but what would your opinions be?

Many thanks.

Recently, I tried various racetams, including phenylpiracetam, oxiracetam, and also aniracetam. I also tried Noopept. I did this over a period of three months, experimenting with different doses and combinations. I'd like to try Modafinil, but I haven't had a chance yet.

We all have different biochemistry, and what worked for me might not work for you - and vice versa  :)

Phenylpiracetam - Very slight improvement in concentration, although at first it just made me sleepy. Initially, I became absent minded and forgot simple things like where I put my keys, etc. However, that passed.

Oxiracetam - No noticeable effect even at high doses.

Aniracetam - Definite improvement in both concentration and motivation. Colors became more saturated. Increased verbal fluency in social interactions.

Noopept - No noticeable effect even at high doses.

Interestingly, I gave some Phenylpiracetam to a friend who wanted to try it, and he felt an improvement in concentration. However, it didn't do much for me. So, my vote is for Aniracetam, although you might prefer the others.

I look forward to reading about your results with Modafinil.

I don't know of any of the major/reputed vendors who price that low, but from a manufacturing standpoint it's somewhat possible you could be getting real modafinil at those prices - it's just not common to do so.

I would be very hesitant to order Modafinil on the terms you described. It's my understanding that it can be obtained by prescription for ADD / ADHD. For a little extra money, you'll get Modafinil that is genuine and safe.

I've received Modafinil (Sun Pharma) today but I am hesitant to take it as it's from India.

What would I say to the doctor to have it prescribed? Just symptoms of having ADD / ADHD?

I've decided to start with fish oil for starters rather than modafinil.

Would anyone here have any recommendations on fish oil?

How is High Strength Omega 3 Fish Oil 1000mg by transforme?

On a side note, I wish to apologise for my questions, I am quite new to this.

It's all going to come from India as that's where it's manufactured...even if you buy from a seller in the UK, US, etc...it still all comes from India.

Before I give any suggestions, might I ask if you have any diagnosed NPD ( neuro-psychiatric disorder), or if you suspect that you have some form of NPD?

If we knew what quirks you may have in your nervous system, it would help suggesting dosing and stacks / compounds for you to try out, in order to increase your studying-results.

Depending on what polymorfisms you have in your genes, various compounds will either improve, or worsen your cognition.

It should be noted, that the Racetams have a very varied effect, depending on whether you have some form of NPD or not. For instance, if you have a form of ADD or ADHD, then some of the racetams will actually give you brainfog, and impact your studying negatively, instead of positively.

Modafinil however, will DEFINITELY be beneficial, as it is actually used as ADHD-treatment, sometimes successfully - and it is definitely beneficial for Neuro-typical students as well.

We are all concerned about questionable manufacturing practices since a lot of the labs are located in India and China.

For instance, here is an investigative article in Forbes about an Indian manufacturer of generic drugs:

http://fortune.com/2...dirty-medicine/

There is also a problem with labs in the U.S. not doing the tests they've been paid to perform. They just give you the results they think you want to hear. You can see the cases by searching on "labs fake test results" or "lab fraud."

I don't want to scare anyone, but I want to stress that it's important to research your sources. I regret that I don't know of a good place to get Modafinil. If you find one, please send me a message.
