Note: This isn't a product or anything like that. She just posted it on her website so I'm reposting it here to get your opinions on it:

--------------
Ingredients (All Organic):

8 large kale leaves (I use an entire bunch of curly kale)

4-6 rainbow chard leaves

handful  (~1 cup) of baby spinach

2 large carrots

1 tomato

1 avocado

1 banana (optional)

1 apple (optional)

1/4 cup of organic frozen mixed berries or blueberries

Scoop of 50:50 mixture of rice:pea protein powder

~4 cups of unsweetened almond milk (there should be no sugar in the almond milk)

Stevia (optional—I do not use)

-------------------------

Note: She only consumes half of this.

Looks like a party of phytonutrients to me. I don't personally object to anything in it. Some may object to the oxalates, and purists may object to the protein powder and almond milk.

I think anyone following SAD would benefit from something like this. I personally like to eat my food, but do use the vitamix from time to time for a nice smoothie.

Thanks for the critique :)

May I ask what SAD is? And why would so-called purists object to protein powder and almond milk?

1) SAD = Standard American Diet

2) Protein powder is a refined food and does not resemble anything found in nature.  Both almond milk and protein powder can contain additives/chemicals, for example almond milk has a variety of additions like sunflower lechithin, locust bean gum, gellan gum, as well as various vitamins/minerals, not naturally found in almonds.

Thank you for clearing that up. Couple of things:

- Protein powder seems like a common ingredient amongst many smoothie-makers on longecity. Is there a reason for that?

- Do you know why she has chosen almond milk over and above any regular kind? This question is me being lazy, I am pretty sure she explained why in one of her podcasts. Just they all last hours so I'd need to go through them again or alternatively e-mail her :P

I've been making a few of these since starting the thread and I have to admit I feel a good deal of energy from it. Perhaps it's placebo, who knows? But I shall continue nonetheless as it gives me a consistently large intake of raw vegetables.

Perhaps a good reason to choose almond milk.

Very interesting link. The doctor making those really has it in for dairy, even more so for eggs.
