First of all:
Claim: Consumption of doses in excess of 10g of Vitamin C daily is healthy and can in fact prodce significant health benefits assuming the means and frequency of ingestion are sufficiently tolerable for digestion.
Vitamin C mega-dose of SUFFICIENTLY TOLERABLE substances and amounts. The general idea is we assume a safe way to near-saturate the body with metabolized( or perhaps non-metabolized) version of vitamin C. How might this effect immune function, hormone levels, etc. What are the pros and cons of a mega-dose.
Note: Ascorbic Acid, Metallic Ascorbates(e.g. Calcium Ascorbate), Ascorbate Salt complexes(Choline Ascobate, Creatine Ascorbate, etc.) all qualify, but the safer versions tend to have readily available metabolic-waste pathways. For instance, excess sodium from Sodium Ascorbate can be bothersome and have negative effects due to sodium excess. A complex of magnesium ascorbate, calcium ascorbate, and zinc ascorbate will likely be much more health-preserving due to the fact that these metals(assuming a healthy body) will be excreted.
What are your thoughts?
Second of all: Ascorbate as a stabilizing agent. It seems to have some cool properties towards being able to transport super-antioxidants throughout the body(e.g. C-60 Ascorbate is doable physically speaking) Definitely something to keep an eye on in future drug-targeting technology.
