Hi!

I'm pretty freaked right now. I found out through a urine test that I supposedly suffer from pyrrolurea (http://www.kpu-berli...opyrrolurea.htm).

People who have this have low B6 and zinc in their cells and due to this they cannot detox like normal people.

What really concerns me now is that while reading about pyrrolurea I read that damage which is caused to the genome of the mitochondria through oxidative stress

cannot be repaired by the body! The article which was written by a doctor said that the body only has 500-1000 copies and depending on how many of those copies

have been corrupted you can get all kinds of serious diseases.

This is really shocking to me. I wasn't aware of this. I don't know what to do now. Is there a way to find out how much damage has been done already to the mitochondria? From what I read people with pyrrolurea have this from birth and I'm already over 30!

Well, that's 500-1000 copies in the typical cell, of which you have a rather large number.  Have you been shown to have B6 and zinc deficiency, or is this all based on the presence of pyrrole in the urine?   This condition isn't recognized by scientists, and is kind of "on the fringe", as they say.    If you are concerned about your mitochondria (there is probably nothing wrong with them), then you could look into PQQ and C60-olive oil.  Do you have any symptoms that suggest a mitochondrial problem?

An excellent supplement for mitochondria is 500 mg Setria reduced glutathione, twice a day. Best taken with with a gram of Vitamin C.

Hello!

I had B6 measured in the serum and it was normal. But I read that serum levels mean nothing.

I had zinc measured too and it was low.

I have many white spots on my fingernails which I read mean that you're low in zinc.

I don't know what symptoms you get when the mitochondria are damaged. But generally I am in bad health. I feel like an old man.

I have many pains and aches. I have fatigue, depression, low energy. I have a lot of things going on.

I also had oxidative stress measured and it was high too.

I am worried now. What if I have been having high oxidative stress for years and years without knowing it?

I mean my last oxidative stress test was a few months ago and back then I was already taking a multi vitamin + vitamin e + vitamin c + spirulina daily

and still my oxidative stress was too high and I have pyrroles in the urine.

I also had a test for nitrosative stress which was also positive! This means I have oxidative stress, nitrosative stress and this kryptopyrroluria stuff. Unfortunately none of my doctors thinks this is important. They didn't even know KPU or nitrosative stress.

I don't know what to do now.

If you have elevated oxidative stress then does this affect every single cell in the body? Does this mean that there can be irreversible

damage and after that it doesn't matter what you do or take it cannot be helped anymore? This would be totally scary.

I'm sorry someone told you you have this problem jiff.. ..and your freaking out, though understandable, will not help.. In my understanding, damaged mitochondria have pretty bad symptoms, though I take it from my reading on mushroom poisonings, like deadly amanitas, whose toxins act on mitochondria. It takes 2 to 4 weeks to die actually, because mitochondria get damaged beyond repair and this leads to the death of cells, one by one, until liver or kidneys, or both, fail. So, I'd guess the symptoms of damaged mitochondria range from wide-spread organ dysfunction to death.. ..but I guess that would depend on the degree of the damage..

If some tests show that you have elevated  oxidative stress, you could try C60oo and other things already recommended by niner and Turnbuckle..

Hello,

is C60 olive oil available everywhere or only in the US? I'm not sure if they have this in Europe.

And can anybody tell me if damaged mitochondria are really such a huge issue? I mean cells die all the time and they're replaced by new ones.

What happens if a cell contains damaged mitochondria and then dies? Is it not replaced by a new cell or will the new cell also contain damaged mitochondria?

And can anybody tell me if damaged mitochondria are really such a huge issue?

They may present at any age, with different onsets, clinical presentation and progression from an isolated involvement of vision or hearing to a multisystemic degenerative disorders with stroke-like episodes, peripheral neuropathy, ophthalmoparesis, seizures, cardiopathy, hepatopathy, endocrinopathies, etc

But to answer your question - yes, obviously. None of these conditions simply cause fatigue, they're very serious and chronic.

What happens if a cell contains damaged mitochondria and then dies? Is it not replaced by a new cell or will the new cell also contain damaged mitochondria?

and then dies?

The problem is mitochondria play a key role in apoptosis as far as we know. So even when a cell with a damaged mitochondrion dies it could die in a "bad" (unregulated) way. It really isn't as simple as getting a replacement.

Now enough with the scary stuff, I honestly don't think you have a mitochondrial disease, these are serious chronic conditions and you wouldn't be asking about them on a website.

c60 is available in Europe, but I'm only aware of this site http://shop.owndoc.c...lls-in-oil.html   -- but there could be others.

Re damaged mitochondria, if it is indeed the case with you, is actually a serious issue. I just happened to read some papers on mitochondria toxicity due to some drugs. You can google this term for more info.

What I gathered is that the symptoms depend on the organ whose cells' mitochondria were most affected. So, if it is heart cells, this results in weakness of the heart muscle which manifests as fatigue, shortness of breath, irregular hear beat, chest pain, etc. When it is liver cells, this often results in fatty liver (when fat accumulates in the cells, apparently due to mitochondria inability to process fatty acids for energy) and leads to various metabolic disorders, like type II diabetes, etc. But the main symptom throughout is fatigue in its many various forms.

I wonder if it would be a good way to test C60 for humans to get a hold of someone suffering mushroom poisoning and giving it to them right away?
