Hello,

I found an old doctor's report from my father where he visited a neuropsychologist who ran all kinds of tests with him, like memory

tests, counting backwards and forwards in steps of 7 and so on.

My father went to the neuropsychologist years ago cause he complained about difficulties with his memory and forgetting words.

The neuropsychologist wrote that my father didn't do well enough on certain tasks which lead him to assume that there is something

wrong and he could even specify which brain area it was. It was the left frontal cortex. He advised getting a brain MRI with dye.

Back then my father didn't get the MRI cause he was too afraid of the narrow tube but last year he got a brain MRI without dye and

it was basically ok for his age. The doc said he had microangiopathy and a few small white spots which could be micro ischemias.

But what scares me now is that I also have these symptoms which he had when he went to the neuropsych.

I feel like my memory is really bad. For example when I try to calculate stuff in my head like 36 x 7 or something like that then

first of all I am really slow at it, which I wasn't when I was younger, and I also often forget the numbers. For example when I

first calculate 30 x 7 = 210 and then calculate 6 x 7 = 42 then often times I don't remember the first number so that I cannot add

them in my mind to get the result.

This is one symptom which I notice about myself. I also have brain fog often, I am unable to decide what to do with my time, I waste

a lot of time or get caught up in destructive behavioral patterns which I cannot break free from.

I have also been tested for adhd and had to do memory tests and tests on a computer and it also showed that my memory isn't normal

for my age. But ritalin doesn't really help me so I dont know if I really have add or not.

I have had many brain MRIs. The last brain MRI is 2 years ago. What I worry now is how much does a brain MRI really tell you?

I mean can you have a normal brain MRI and still have functional brain issues? If yes, how can you find out if you have them and

can you treat them? For example how could I find out if I have prefrontal cortex issues?

I dont really know what I have, I only know that I'm not functioning normally. I have been to ADHD boards and posted my symptoms and described them and many people could identify with them. But even if I had adhd then it doesn't help me when the drugs dont work.

I also have depression, anxiety and ocd. But the antidepressants also don't work. That's why I try to find out what my issue could be

or what kind of tests I could do but my doc simply says there is nothing one can do. It's like my symptoms don't matter at all cause

when I tell him my symptoms then he doesn't seem to be able to draw anything from them.

I am really scared cause I know that in those tests which the neuropsychologists did with my father I'd also not do well at all.

I mean even when I try to count backwards from 100 in steps of 7 then I'm totally slow! This really frightens me.

I am simply totally slow at certain things. For example adding is much easier than subtracting. I dont know if this is normal.

What if I go to a neuropsychologist and he also does such tests with me and I underperform? What would this mean? That something

is seriously wrong with my brain? This is really scary. If I went to get tested I'd be so scared of sucking that the chances of sucking

would be even bigger.
