Taken from there:

Hello there,

I know a lot of you handpan* players are very creative, smart and interested in increasing ambidexterity - equivallence of using both hands smile.gif

As we can read here (http://www.thebionee... ... reativity/) it is very possible that left/right hand coordination have something to do with left/right hemisphere connection and the part of the brain which connect it together called Corpus Callosum. It has been documented via mri brain scanning that the longer a person plays particular musical instrument which requires this coordination, the bigger this this brain part become (up to 15% compared to normal peple in one study). It looks like that A. Einstein has C. Callosum extraordinary big(after examination of his brain) and it made him extremely creative - not to mention he was a leftie and played violin from age 4. All lefties are considered more creative, and I think it is because of normal society forces them to use their right hand which causes as a side effect ambidexterity.
My personal anecdotes from studying selft taught piano composers is that they created music as they were without hands. Yes really, like the piano was an instrument and they, no matter which hand used, write their music into this (eg like drumming), which only convinced me more that when they created music, their brain parts must be abnormally interconnected so their were able to fully creative express themselves.

OK, not many people are creative geniuses, jugglers, self taught pianists or posses a handpan. Many people do have computers smile.gif And games are one of the best way how to train your abilities, focus. When I only tried to draw with one hand a triangle and meanwhile draw using second hand a square, I felt the itching even in my stomach, it was strange feeling like there is happening something new and each time I did it it was easier. My brain and my hands started adapting, probably this is known feeling many drummers know. And when my friend suggested an idea, why computers dont have two mouses for operating? It begin to spark. Why we dont have games which uses two mouses?

It could be fun to think out concept of the game and even bigger to program it and play! That is why I posted and if you read down there, I wonder about your game ideas when you got two mouses.. Please dont hesitate to post, the best idea will be computerized and playble. I will post mine after some two or three days so we can compare, but there is so vast possibilities I wonder if someone already didnt come with something similar. Thanks for reading and all creative insights.

OK So I will share my ideas for the game:

1) Pong (Table tennis game) - simply using different hand for each paddle
2) Catcher - Catch the balls fired on the screen but each time use different hand
3) Patterns - My favourite, inspired by handpan playing and due to all possible variations. Simply draw presented shape periodically with one hand - it can be segment, triangle, rectangle, star.. determined by peaks (joints) and on each joint player should click the mouse. So even if you have to do this with only your opposite to dominant hand it can be challenging, now assume adding also other hand and draw different object (or catch randomly appearing dots). It all can be timed/controlled by metronome. I love it because there is unlimited possibilities and it can be really quite challenging simply looking game and there are no borders how far a person can go..

*(handpan is usually a 9 (7-15)-note steel instrument with tones rounded on its top. Player usually uses both his hands and for advanced playing needs good left/right hand coordination. Taken as analogy from other instruments (as it was for piano or other need hand coordination) a player is developing ambidextreous ability, which transfers to real benefits.

Hm, FPS-Games* use the Mouse and the Keyboard, or did I miss the point?

*Would be interessting to take a look at the brains of FPS-Players and compare them to those of Pianists etc.

Thanks for the reply A491. Yes it is true that some studies confirmed better reactive time for FPS players and I wonder about brain scans too, although I dindt do my research :-)

I like the idea of gameplay of FPS, they allow player to be fully absorbed in the game, thus the learning process is much more interesting for them. My point is: try to pick up a few buttons on your keyboard and press them regularly while pushing another in your right. If the movements has to be sequential/logical you are also training your memory (speculating: working memory).

The first two games are only about reactions with both hands together or alternating (eg like juggling) and the third game is about actively pushing your memory for both hands (and using complex coordination - its another type of training in contrast to pushing WASD, C for crouch, space for Jump :) becuase its immediate learned reaction). I am referring here to prodigy childs, they usually get extraordinary working memory, although the difference between prodigy and ordinary person might not be considerable, they are known to have focus and working memory => genius. I might not be correct, just from my research it heads me here :-)

We wont know until the game is here for free testing and even better for brain scanning. BTW thanks for all opinions.

If you want 2 mouse game then make it four dimensional. No one is going to play it though.
