Imagine, what if in the future we were able to downvote a politician? Then our votes might actually count towards getting a reasonable one elected. What do you guys think? Could we be downvoting politicians when we're 1000+? Maybe sooner than that?

I don't think, that the governments will allow it, at least in the manner, that you are imagining it. Otherwise they will not be able to manipulate the elections as they like.
