I've had acne for eight years, since I was ten. Often large red pimples would blow up on my face and remain for weeks, before either shrinking or bursting. I haven't had many treatments, but I have tried all sorts of facial creams, including prescription ones. I once took accutane for about a month or so, but my mother threw it out in a fit of paranoia after reading about the various side affects. Nothing I have done has ever helped my acne in any way aside from the physical removal of blackheads, and possibly the accutane, but I didn't take it any time long enough to be sure.

My acne has receded but has left me with moderate scarring as well a small cystic mass which I will have to get surgery to remove. I am considering chemical peels and various other scar treatments, but I want to wait until after the surgery. There has to be something I can do now to help my skin without having to wait for months, and I strongly suspect that if not for the stunning incompetence of skin care professionals I would have had it already. These are specialists who purportedly train for years and believe things that could be corrected by a visit to Wikipedia.

Oh, and the idea that I should become informed through my own efforts about skin care and acne is disgusting. I don't honestly want to read any literature, don't care about the science, and have plenty of better things to do with my life than doing specialists' jobs for them. That's why I'm here, to see if groupthink can help me if medical professionals can't.

dermarolling may be able to help fade your acne scar a decent amount. Look into that. Very very cheap to do that. It hurts doing it but you can get one for yourself at home.

You should only really do one rolling session per month as it takes time for your skin to make more collagen and doing it more often can sabotage that effort. You should use a .75 or 1mm needle length for collagen production..........

I have also heard of the supplement monolaurin helping a good deal of people to clear up acne.

By the way, since doctors are usually incompetent, you're going to need to learn at lest some things about your skin, unless you feel like ruining it.....
