https://www.michaelj...bacteria-levelsTalk about the gut brain connection. Parkinson's Disease is arguably the most broadly feared dopaminergic disorder. Now there is more and more evidence that in addition to a genetic component certain environmental factors are always present. Namely, lack of thiamine and folate producing bacteria that also protect the gut lining. And in the really serious form other excitocin, mainly ammonia producing, bacteria are also present. The more of them, the more serious the disease.

Also, it seems that those exact problematic Enterobacteria also produce amyloid like structures. That then make their way through a compromised gut lining and the BBB to the brain. Where they cause Parkinson's and Alzheimers. Though genetics of course also plays a part. But the bugs seem to be an integral part of the problem as well.

And, the potential cure, once again is agmatine or its breakdown product spermidine? http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/25483063
