Well I was initially excited when I read about research that AMPK activators reverse aging and extend lifespan. But then I found out that AMPK over-activation causes Alzheimer. LEF has recently just released an new product AMPK activator. But I guess we should steer clear of it if we don't want to risk getting Alzheimers.

What if someone is already taking metformin, and wanted to also buy this product AMPK activator for its added benefit, Would that be unwise?

To call that misleading is an understatement by quite a margin. Just search pubmed for AMPK + Alzheimer's and you'll come up with literally thousends of papers showing the possible ADVANTAGES of AMPK activation. Including AMPK activation through metformin...

I would only be concerned with a situation of very high, chronic AMPK activation.  In a pulsatile fashion, it should be fine.

How often should it be taken (pulsed) in your view?

It would depend on your daily circadian rhythm.  I don't know the pharma kinetics of that supplement.  Ideally, I think I would want AMPK upregulated about 1-1.5 hours after a meal and 1 hour before a meal.  I guess what I'm trying to say is to take it away from meals, as if it were like exercise.

Best and safest AMPK agonists are saturated fatty acids.
