Before people tag this post irresponsible and dangerous i did my research before hand.

The MAOI in question is actually a RIMA, Moclobemide. SSRIs would be very dangerous with a full MAOI like Parnate / Nardil.

Reports of people using this with MDMA to enhance the effects of the drug, there were deaths if the dose was abit too high, though, as you would expect.

However, for anti depressants such as Fluoxetine, Sertraline, this is actually a very potent, non numbing combination for depression.

I first tried it with precaution, with residual fluoxetine in my system, 1 week cessation. it takes 4 weeks for fluoxetine to leave your system. and added 150mg of Moclobemide. The result was fascinating. Instant relief of depression, without manic symptoms. I had all my emotions return within the day. I watched movies and experienced emotions i have not felt for years.

On advice, i stopped because it is generally not a recommended combination because of the MAOI stigma, even though i had no negative side effects.

I tried it again, this time during 20MG Fluoxetine treatment, and added a small amount, 75mg Moclobemide. Effects noticed but not quite there. I will try 150mg next.

Here's links to evidence of the safety of the combination.

I will also add, that the risk of this combination is not because of the random chance of serotonin toxicity of it, its because many depressed patients are suicidal, and if you overdose on an SSRI & Moclobemide together, it's unrecoverable death.

Plenty of scholar articles about deaths of the combination in overdose.

The combination in low therapeutic doses is very effective for depression with no side effects, but not ideal of people with any suicidal thoughts.

Interested to hear how this plays out. Just take it slow with the dosages -- better to take a few extra weeks of titration than risk anything, even if the odds of interaction are slim.

I'm currently on a regiment of NSI & MAOI, waiting for a month+ to get the emotional effects. Goal is to return emotional response to stimuli. I'll return to this combo if it doesn't work and keep you guys updated.

Evidence of efficency:

http://www.ncbi.nlm..../pubmed/7675971

"Two main observations can be made concerning safety and efficacy. Firstly, side effects in the SSRI-RIMA group were minimal. Secondly, the SSRI-RIMA combination treatment significantly improved depression in refractory depressed patients, with a decrease in depression of about 40%. The SSRI monotherapy group also significantly improved, though only by about 20%"

This shows a double drop in depression with the combination therapy of SRI & RIMA (Moclobemide)

Considering the minimal side effects, this should be an excellent combo for non suicidal depression such as anhedonia / numbness.

Safety:

http://www.nature.co...lpt199831a.html

"Combination treatment with fluoxetine and moclobemide did not provide any indication of development of the “serotonin syndrome.”

It's emphasized that low doses must be used, and absolutely should not be used by a patient that has a history of suicidal thoughts, drug abuse etc.
