I have been taking 1gram of ALCAR for a few days. The first day I felt amazing but the last few I have had incredibly terrible headaches. It isnt anything else because it is the only thing I changed. Would 250mg of ALA help this? Also I heard ALA could cause hair loss, so any viable alternatives to ALA?

Eliminate the ALCAR?  ALCAR doesn't agree with me either.

You don't really know if it's the ALCAR or a coincidence.  You need to stop the ALCAR for a few days, then restart.  If it's in fact causing headaches, you could try a lower dose or a different source.  ALA is unlikely to make a difference, and is not necessary at ALCAR doses like any of us use.

Too much acetylcholine, perhaps. Are you supplementing a choline source or a choline esterase inhibitor since before?

maybe you find something helpful here: http://www.longecity...nce-with-alcar/

As niner suggested in that thread - try splitting it into 2 500mg doses.

Not taking a choline source with it. Domt see how ALCAR alone could cause an excess in acetylcholine. Should I be taking a choline source with it? I tried 300mg of alpha gpc with 500mg of ALCAR once and I fit all the symptoms of too much acetylcholine. And I dont think its a coincidence because it has coincided with taking 1gram of ALCAR both times I had these terrible headaches.

It is odd because the first time I took 1 gram of ALCAR i felt AMAZING. I had 0 brain fog my brain was lightning fast and I was in a great mood for several hours afterwards.

I had headaches on only 500mg ALCAR. I had to lower my dose to about 350mg per day split in 3 divided doses. I occasionally take more for events where I need more attention or want to get more done. I was taking Aniracetam for awhile, and it's possible that it made me able to tolerate higher doses of ALCAR without a headache.
