I have been under 'adrenal fatigue' spell for the last year. I have tried alot of supplements but nothing brought me back to my basal set-point. After reading anecdotes on the efficacy of AD's (SSRI's, SSRE's) as a treatment for HPA dysfunction I have decided to take the step and try one. So far the two which have peaked my interest are Tianeprine and Selegiline. I am looking to chose the one which could bring most resolve to my particular set of symptoms/conditions:

-Irregular cortisol pattern (morn: 7.2, 3.7-9.5. noon: 0.6, 1.2-3.0. evening: 2.2 - 0.6-1.9. night: 2.4 (0.4-1.0) definitively seems to be on the high side.

-Metabolic syndrome (low body temperatures, often fluctuate between 35.5c - 36.5c. Thyroid is sub-optimal but not all that bad. If i try taking Iodine or T3 I feel nervous and anxious suspect this is because of 'weak adrenals' or already 'high cort' )

-Insomnia (delayed onset of sleep, waking up between 2am-4am, never being able to sleep more than 6hours. possibly high to cort/NE)

-Abnominal pain/GI issues (never understood if this was a result of AF, NT imbalance, or the inflammation that triggered AF by inducing stress response - stool test, liver markers seem normal though)

-Libido (huge problem as half of the supps/drugs I try induce immediate (!?) lack of libido, ED, numbness. Similar to PSSD even though I have never been on SSRI before. Have been trying to decipher this mystery for ages)

Which one would better suit best the profile of presented issues?

It's a shame no one has replied to your post. How has everything gone for you? I found phosphorylated serine to be fantastic to balance hpa axis. Sadly interplexus doesn't produce it anymore and has changed it to phosphatidylserine instead, not effective. It's worth trying both and seeing how you respond also have you thought about nsi-189

I used to use Interplexus Phosphorylated Serine too. I now use Doctor's Best Phosphatidyl Serine, it's not as strong, but I'm okay with that.

200mcg Selenium or 4 brazil nuts per day will help with peripheral conversion (which is most conversion) of T4 to T3, I don't have any bad reaction/stress response from it.

The best thing I've found to help with abdominal pain/GI issues is Reparen (calcium phosphate monobasic), calcium citrate/malate is my second choice (less effective) and other sources of calcium haven't worked.

I'd suggest looking into Berberine and Quercetin for metabolic syndrome, they're a part of my permanent stack.

Bone broth/chicken stock, zero stress lifestyle is hands down the best thing for AF

For delayed sleep onset, LEF Melatonin 300mcg 6 hour timed release, taken at 6pm to 6:30pm helps with resetting the circadian rhythm, as does getting a dose of sunlight first thing in the morning. Low dose lithium helps a bit with sleep quality, as does a couple of bites of protein immediately before sleep. And 200mg Magnesium Citrate immediately after dinner.

I haven't tried Tianeptine. Selegiline won't help with any of the issues you've listed and may make insomnia worse. I'm liking Selegiline for cognitive deficits, mood and energy.

There is a product called enerphos it's phosphorylated Serine similar to original seriphos but still i didn't find it as good. I'm taking selegiline 1/4 tab bout 1.25 mg every morning and miss a few days in between. I don't notice a great change but motivation has been slightly lifted. When i ad mucuna pruriens to it i notice a large difference bout i wouldn't take mp to often. I trialed tianeptine for a few weeks found it great but i got powdered form which clumps so will get pre measured caps next. Tianeptine was quite relaxing and help with anxiety. The selegiline and tianeptine go together well when dosed correctly

Selegiline is interesting. I've taken it on and off (mostly off) since 2008.

Libido: Extreme increase. Increase, actually, in desire for everything stimulating.

Motivation: Problematic. I am less focussed because I'm more focussed on getting the amplified hit from short term pleasure activities (chocolate, youtube, fries from the kebab shop, plebbit). If you had the will power though you could, perhaps (my neuroscience knowledge is poor) rewire your brain so that boring activities are more desired as the previous hit of dopamine you got from doing them was amplified.

I haven't tried tianeptine but I am extremely interested in it. I am giving NSI-189 a proper trial (see my journal) and it is next on the list (with journal too).

Fellow long term member funkodyssey had similar effects I believe.
