Hi all,

Needing advice on potential stacks.

I currently take 7.5 mg/day of selegiline. This is due to some muscle twitching that is linked to a sleep disorder (lack of slow wave sleep). Not sure if this is relevant but it likely began as an autoimmune response to Epstein Barr Virus.

For sleep I take 30-40 mg melatonin (yeah I know, but it's the only thing that works). Also 7.5 mg zopiclone, and recently 3000 mg tryptophan and 1000 mg niacin. Sometimes I use GABA, valerian, and ZMA.

Aside from sleep my only health issue is adrenal fatigue. This is confirmed with low cortisol and low DHEA. I've had real fatigue/energy issues linked to my sleep problem, and in the past few months I've lost weight/muscle/collagen. This niacin seems to be helping with this. I've recently cut out caffeine to rest my adrenals.

I have tried stacking selegiline with:

PEA (phenylethylamine) 300 mg. I felt euphoric and slightly manic, but not super productive. There wasn't much of a crash but I do worry about side effects and safety.

NALT-tyrosine 300 mg. This one feels good, not euphoric but upbeat and motivated. From what I've read it sounds safe enough.

Phenibut 1500 mg. Didn't feel much off this. I've read it can be dangerous and habit forming so I don't want to push it.

SAMe 100 mg. Feels good, upbeat and motivated, overall sense of wellness.

Also I sometimes smoke/eat cannabis. Low to moderate dose only

***** Other nootropics I'm thinking of adding, keeping in mind I can't stop the selegiline or lower the dose at the present time:

Phenylaline, Alpha-GPC, Creatine, Noopept, Picamilon

.... I'm worried about the safety of all of these, combined with selegiline or anything else I sometimes take. Help?

I would seriously consider dropping the above protocol and looking into functional whole, nutritious foods, plenty of yoga and mediation, certain adrenal herbs/sups (ashwagandha, schizandra, vit c, rehmannia, vit b6, etc) and plenty of sleep, without exercise and no stims. SAM-e is likely fine, and maybe deprenyl if you absolutely need it, though maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in.

Can't sleep? Then lay awake all night, stay awake all the next day, and then try to sleep again the next night. In other words, don't take any sups for sleep, just let yourself be exhausted until you naturally fall asleep the next night. Maybe some light herbal things, chamomile, valerian or the like. Tough, I know, but 30-40 mg of melatonin, really? I almost wonder if you're kidding, huge dosages and nothing good can come that.

Check these pages out for more ideas for adrenal fatigue. Eat nutritious foods and rest for a good 3 months would be my advice.

thanks GP. The sleep issue is legit hormonal/neurological; the only things that have helped are high dose melatonin plus daytime selegiline use. Sounds odd but the selegiline was Rx'd by one of the top sleep specialists in Canada, based on a sleep study showing a complete lack of slow wave sleep. I take Jameson's 10 mg melatonin, 3 or 4 of them.

As far as the nootropics... does no one here stack noots? I thought a lot of talk on this forum was about just that.

How are you going?

I have no problems combining Noopept with Selegiline. Cannabis, especially the cadmium in it, is really bad for AF long-term, the short-term "feel better" is really not worth it. I'd like to know how to process it and remove the cadmium...

I find 500mg Myo-Inositol really helpful for the shakiness/anxiety. 200mg magnesium citrate after dinner helps with sleep.

Have you tried blue blocking glasses for 4 hours before sleep, completely dark room/sleep mask, sunlight/light box first thing in the morning? Intranasal Orexin-A might help too...

Bone broth/chicken stock is great for AF, as is having a couple of bites of protein immediately before sleep.
