I am an introvert, have been all my life. Recently i have found that it is not easy going through life being an introvert. I don't have social anxiety, i just have this problem where i don't feel like talking. There are few times when it happens i am able to talk and i can talk about anything but for the most part i am quite and i am always asked by others why i am so quite and why don't talk and so on. People also judge me negatively because of this.

When i take Ritalin for example, i become talkative but i don't like the other effects of Ritalin and when i also don't sleep for a day or 2 i become talkative too. Alcohol consumption makes more introverted than i already am. For these reasons i have come to the conclusion that there must be some chemical processes involved in the brain which makes me an introvert.

I am now turning for help on the internet and this forum is my first post regarding this problem and It would be helpful to hear your ideas, knowledge and experience about what things may help, including prescription and non prescription medication, herbs or any thing else but not therapy as i have tried it with no results. I tried psychotherapy with specialist in psychology and a psychiatrist, both were useless.

As if introversion was a "disorder" that needs a cure or solution?

"Recently i have found that it is not easy going through life being an introvert."

Well it probably isn't easy by being an extrovert either, where you have to rely on outside resources.

Maybe focus on building inner confidence that introverts have better ability to achieve. Kava-Kava, Zembrin or mild dose psychedelics/empathogens may give you some of that extrovert perspective though, worth a try.

Introversion is natural where you find internal comfort, rather than seek comfort from others.

One example is i knew a woman who simply couldn't function being alone, and always had to have friends over every afternoon, after work, or being alone in her room would drive her mad, a classic extrovert.

I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum. I enjoy most of my time, being alone. I've always been that way, even before a depressive episode.

I would be the guy who didnt talk much, not from lack of confidence, or from anxiety, i had plenty of confidence. I just preferred an internal state of mind.

If this bothers you, you could attempt to use drugs to help. Something that makes me much more outgoing and talkative than usual is Modafinil.

Is this always the case though. Is there any situations where you find yourself talking more? (without any substances) I had the same sort of thing, got the question about being quiet which was always annoying. I would say that if you find people you feel that you can be yourself around. You would probably be talking much more. Do you talk more in big groups or smaller groups?

I also feel that there's some chemical reason for this. But to be honest, if someone doesn't like it, they can pretty much just fuck off. NOBODY is forcing them to hang out with you. If they want you to talk, they can simply ask a question. Are you sure it's not the people around you who are dragging you down, rather then the problem being on you. I heard some good things about Piracetam, the effect is suppose to be very subtle when it comes to the verbal part. Also Aniracetam but effect is very short-lived, Do you do other things like meditate and exercise?

Is there any situations where you find yourself talking more? No, always the same except it just happens few times out of the blue where i become talkative.

Do you talk more in big groups or smaller groups? It's the same in both big and small groups.

Do you do other things like meditate and exercise? Yes, i do both sometimes.

Are you sure it's not the people around you who are dragging you down, rather then the problem being on you. Actually the problem is me, my head feels like it's empty or locked.
If you ever had the feeling where you have nothing to say in a social situation, that's how i feel most of the time.

I have Piracetam and Sulbitiamine, just got them the other day and haven't tried them yet.

I have talked to my doctor and a psychiatrist about Modafinil and they refused to prescribe it.

Hmm this could just be introversion, but that fact that you mentioned that your head constantly feels empty or locked is not good either way. Would you describe it as though your brain is foggy? Like its hard to process things or "hold" things/thoughts in line before they just slip away? Does your speech resemble poverty of speech(alogia) where you literally say the absolute minimum? It would be good if you could provide some clarification.

I have to ask though, do you think you could be suffering from depression? I felt exactly like you did when I was going through some pretty bad depression, had nothing to say, felt apathetic in social situations. I find that sometimes depression can manifest in subtle ways such as an overall feeling of misery combined with your symptoms and social and emotional apathy.

But if your issues are purely cognitive and you find that you're completely satisfied/happy and not depressed at all, I believe we should look towards dopaminergic enhancing supplements.

Again it would be great if you could provide additional symptoms and go more in depth but for now I'm going of your experience with Ritalin(Ritalin is a potent Dopamine Reuptake Inhibitor). So if you want you can try out some L-tyrosine, possibly with or without Coffee/caffeine. Also try out your Sulbutiamine as well, again in combination with the other stuff if you like. Additionally make sure to get plenty of zinc and magnesium because they both act as NMDA antagonists(Could help boost dopamine in the long term) and zinc even possesses some activity as a dopamine Reuptake inhibitor(or Reuptake enhancer, depending on the neuron's state). If none of these work you could add in some Mucuna Pruriens, it contains L-dopa which is a potent dopamine precursor and it really goes great with coffee :). Take a look at uridine also because it can regulate dopamine levels and maybe some Cordyceps as they aid in Dopamine synthesis from L-tyrosine.

Try these out and get back with some updates.

It sounds like a lifetime of Fluoride and copper poisoning to me. But hey what do I know!

kelp and organic gold standard mushroom extract D3 would be the first things to buy.

I feel the root of my extreme introversion is that my brain gets overly stimulated by people, music, just all the complexity that comes with being social.  It's very difficult to be fully functional or have a well rounded life with these problems.

The only relief I've ever had was by taking adhd medicine Vyvanse(like Adderall) and it stopped working in less than a month and lots of exercise particularly high intensity interval training.

I have to ask though, do you think you could be suffering from depression? No, i don't think so. I have been reading about depression and my condition is not caused by depression from what i have red and i don't feel depressed or sad.

Tried Sulbitiamine and got extreme nausea so i gave it up and also didn't notice any effect for my condition. Piracetam was like taking nothing. Will try noopept these days and see how it goes.

Awaiting an L-Dopa shipment, hope that can help a little.
