Hello, I currently take 30mg adderall twice a day. I have always had anxiety issues. When I'm on the adderall it helps, but sometimes it makes my anxiety worse. Also, when it wears off my anxiety tends to increase a lot.

Also, I have had depression for a while. Anxiety and depression tend to go hand in hand. I had it before I started taking it. Being on it seems to help a bit, but when I'm not on it or when it wears off the depression is definitely worse.

So basically, I'm asking what is the best supplement or nootropic to stack with adderall to counteract my anxiety and depression?

L-theanine is a popular supplement for this purpose, As is Phenibut which is slightly more risky in terms of addiction potential. Finally you might want to look into bromantane, tianeptine, salidroside/tyrsol, Selank, and Fasoracetam.

For supplements, ashwaghanda is good and I say that  from personal experience. It's not a supplement but guanfacine is used just for that purpose. It's an extremely cheap($5) rx if you get the instant release(tenex generic) and about $125-$250 for the time released(intuniv generic). Ask your doc.

I see you mentioned phenibut. That is one I have looked into but haven't tried yet. I sort of want to avoid it because of the addiction potential. How about Aniracetam? And the rest you mentioned I haven't heard of, but I will look into.

How much ashwaghanda do you recommend taking? I might give that a try. As far as guanfacine, I believe my doctor mentioned that at on point in the past. I will bring it up next time I go in. Thanks for the advice.

For starters, get yourself some magnesium. I like magnesium citrate powder. This will help with anxiety, vasoconstriction, and overstimulation, plus it's a mild NMDA antagonist, so it will help to prevent tolerance to your adderall. You can take 400 mg before bed, or you can split your doses and take it on the comedown.

Next, I would recommend L-theanine. I like the liquid sublingual form, because it's very fast-acting.

If you still need something stronger, tianeptine is the way to go. It's the best antidepressant I've ever used. The only drawback is that it lasts about 3-4 hours.

Thanks for the magnesium tip. I actually already take 400mg of chelated magnesium every night though. It definitely does help. I will look into tianeptine. I've never heard of it before.

Is tianeptine a a drug that requires a prescription?  Also, where do you recommend buying it from?

Tianeptine does not require a prescription and is not controlled in the US. I recommend buying it from Ceretropic or Powder City.
