I was recently diagnosed with ADD and was prescribed Concerta. The effectiveness of the Concerta was phenomenal in the sense that it helped me focus and concentrate for longer periods without being easily distracted. The Concerta started giving me an elevated heart beat (Tachycardia) and so I discontinued use. I ordered Modafinil before taking the Concerta, and it came in about 7-8 days ago.
I was cycling it every 2 days, and I realized today that the skin on my hands are peeling. I do not have a rash, nor am I experiencing symptoms of a cold. There is no rash on my body, nor on the hands where the skin is peeling.
The severity of the peeling is not bad, so small that I mistook it for something else and washed my hands. The skin only seems to be peeling on my left hand as there doesn't seem to be any signs of peeling on my right. It doesn't look severe, but should I be concerned?
Would you continue taking the Modafinil (Modalert) if you were me, or would you discontinue use?
As I do not present cold or flu like symptoms I'm not really concerned of it being Steven Johnson Syndrome, unless you suspect this as a possibility.
My lips were also dry so I put on some petroleum jelly and they don't seem to be dry anymore.....
I'm also moisturizing my hands now with lotion and drinking lots of fluids.
fyi.. I noticed the flakey/peeling skin on my left hand today (2 days after taking it)
My theory is that because it is a diuretic and has such a strong half-life, that failure to moisturize my skin, and drinking lots of water while on it caused some mild peeling of the skin on my left hand...
Like I said, or otherwise typed, it doesn't look severe, and I do not have a rash or flu like symptoms, but I am concerned about this...
