Is polishing stain off the teeth too much "bad" for the teeth/gums?

especially polishing that's done every time one goes into the office?

 

couldn't this eventually result in tiny parts of the teeth being eroded away each time, accelerating the loss of enamel? alternatively, doesn't this increase the chances of some "accident" actually happening? [where an accident could mean a sudden event that causes enamel loss or gum recession - neither of which are readily reversible?]

If you lived 500 years it would eventually be a problem.

 

More likely, you will destroy enamel chemically with various foods or mechanically with your own brushing or via whitening toothpaste which causes abradation.
