Hello,

this will be my first post on this forum. I have to say that English is not my native language so be advised :D

I´am trying to understand what the results of increased/decreased dopamine density in the brain would be.

As I understand dopamine receptors get down regulated if one abuses something (drugs) but what would the results of this downregulation be despite substance tolarance.

As dopamine´s many roles in the human brain is that of motivation I´m asking me if that downregulation would tend to make one less motivated and to what extend.

Another question of mine would be if one could upregulate their dopamine receptors in a way to get benefits out of it via exercise or something else or do upregulated dopamine receptors decrease dopamine secretion in the breain ?

Can somebody suggest me some literature where this mechanism are explained ?

thanks,

dbs
